3 Round Burst bullet grouping.

Post by Qaiex »

I am by far an expert on the matter but I was under the impression from hearing others talk about it that the 3 round burst on the M16's and M4 are supposed to be sort of in the same place, sort of like a full auto burst if you keep your rifle from climbing.

I've tried different techniques but no matter what I try the 3 round burst always makes the 2 extra shots hit above the first one, making it a waste of ammo and generally very useless unless you're less than 10 metres from your target.

Couldn't we have the two extra shots be the same as the first but with deviation instead of getting the recoil kick between each shot?
So instead of treating the burst as 3 separate shots, it becomes one shot with 3 bullets.

I agree its pretty much useless unless they are really close to you same goes for the automatic rifleman kits, idk what there fascination with guns pointing into the air is.

I can control the bursts, it's pretty damn accurate for me. Of course they won't all be spot on the same place, but close enough to get 3 shots onto the body. But you don't want to use 3 round bursts at distance anyway, in real life, I believe unless they are really close, burst/full auto isn't used as much as semi automatic.

THe first thing I did when PR 0.85 came out was test everything. The 3-round burst is very accurate. I mean, at 50-100 meters, you can usually keep them within a 1 meter radius.

Since you don't actually hold a gun in pr, you don't have to control recoil physically. Rather, controlling recoil is simulated pretty well currently simply by having to pull down on the gun. Once you understand how much recoil affects each gun, you can get a feeling of how much you'll need to pull down to control the recoil. Otherwise, the only thing dispersing the shots is the deviation added after each shot.

your right dude. the only reason i would use 3 rd burst at a distance is just to suppress the enemy while another unit is flanking or if we are breaking contact.

Call of Duty 4 much?

I can get two hits nearly to the same spots. The third one usually goes a bit off.

M4/M16 series already have the lowest recoil out of all assault rifles in mod.

Practice. Up to 50m (maybe even more) I put a at least 2 bullets into the enemy with a burst with a full auto rifle. And that was before 0.85 You have to slightly compensate for climb, but not as much as in previous versions.

As has been said though armies tend not to let soldiers use burt/auto fire much, only in assaults and other such close combat situations are most armies allowed to let rip as far as I know.

I think it's mainly to save ammo, but I seem to remember hearing that other then going through unimaginable amounts of ammo, when the U.S. were fighting in Vietnam the guys were understandably jumpy and back when they were issued with full auto m16 variants they'd end up causing alot of FF firing wildly into the jungle cos they got $%^& up by something.

I know it's not a valid option for distance, but if the bullets all hit in a vertical line, that means you can aim for the feet and hit the two last ones in the chest.
Shouldn't it be more of a shotgun-esque effect?
Where the first shots hit where you aim, and the other ones hit around that shot.

The recoil usually causes it to climb a little bit. But believe me, this is supposed to happen, I've fired an M16 on burst. I'm by no means an expert marksman, but I was able to fire much more accurately than the guys in this game, at ranges as out as 75m. But I've never shot in a combat situation.

I thought the guys over at the Insurgency team did a good job with their M16's.

if you want to hit far w/ three round burst, shoot near the feet=P
any rifle is going to recoile, so every bullet is going to be above the fist
