Re: Helicopter Suggestion (With Video)
Yeah, lets keep this simple.
Another thing, for clarity.
While the helicopter has higher health, the critical damage threshold thing is the same.
This means that when you take a hit from an RPG, for example, your helicopter goes into critical damage, and starts slowly losing health. Same thing if it hits the ground hard. Thus, if you take an RPG hit it loses health and you have to put the heli down or die. In addition, the greater the damage, the less time to put the heli down/escape.
BTW, I updated my post with instructions on how to do it yourself!

I love this idea. A lot. All it takes is finding a few files, a few presses of "ctrl+f", a few numbers change, and PR is that much more awesome.

I thought I already posted in here, but I guess I forgot
I agree with this completely, just so long as there is enough time to get out (maybe 10 seconds), but as soon as it's hit the ground, it's health goes down fast, so that it's impossible to save it.

Awesome idea. Pilot rescue would become a semi-regular occurrence, instead of a once-in-a-blue moon fluke. It would give passengers a chance to escape. And it may even bring an aircraft recovery aspect into the game.

Very very well thought out and workable suggestion by the looks of it. Lets hope it gets added bcos it could be seriously interesting if it is
Agree 100%
Suggest posting it in suggestions then more people are likely to see it.

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

If any forum moderator wants to move it to suggestions I really don't care, I just thought that it would belong in Feedback, well... 'cause its feedbackjigsaw-uk wrote:Very very well thought out and workable suggestion by the looks of it. Lets hope it gets added bcos it could be seriously interesting if it is

I agree that these changes would be pretty cool. I'd also like to see some deathspins and total engine failure/destruction

Re: Helicopter Suggestion (With Video)
Hey, that's a great idea ! Any news ? or advanced tests done ?
I'm not sure about this fact, but IIRC skids aren't as safe as wheels, as far as crash-survival is concerned. So a AH-1W Cobra and a AH-64D Apache would withstand damage from a hard landing differently (weight and frame resistance considered).

Love the idea..
And if it is still alive after crashing. The crew will have to do like in real life. Blow up there on chopper so enemy will not get stuff off of it. Or have a crew come in and destroy it.

Yea i really like this idea, makes it a lot more realalistic and fun for the pilots to try and escape and evade.

Re: Helicopter Suggestion (With Video)
Tryed to get this one to the people myself a while ago, but some ****** made controversy a few posts later and it got ignored. Plus well-audioed vid would have helped
I agree, it would definately be a good step in the direction of realism and enhanced gameplay.
Another addition would be some changes to the operability to the aircraft when disabled like such.
In game atm, despite any velocities, foreces and headings of the chopper, it will give up what it's doing and decide to do a perfectly vertical dive; leaving the pilot no control whatsoever.
Perhaps at least the ability to change heading would mean that the airflow going through the blades would still give you a chance at an emergency landing or do something to improve the situation? As opposed to the controls locking up completely.

You're right, Mongol. Having spoken with a friend who works for a helicopter part processing plant (I think for eurocopter, though I can't recall), he's told me that Helicopters are much safer than anything else, really. Even if all the engines get shot up and fail, you'll still be able to glide to the ground.

Re: Helicopter Suggestion (With Video)
the only question is, what happens in a hard crash, attack, i mean a jet flying into it, or a tank hitting it, does that still lead to an instant kill as it should be ?
