Smoke Grenades

Post by awqs »

ok i think the smoke grenades for the pilots and maybe one for the officer needs to be chanded slightly. the Problem i have with them is that when a squad or a pilot calls for evac the smoke dosent go up high enough. it should go up high when the grenade is thrown because it hard sometimes to spot the smoke when the squad is in between buildngs. It should be something like as high as the trip flair when it goes off.Thats just what i think

Did you wait 30-45 seconds? that smoke cloud becomes HUGE after a while.

It does become huge, but it doesn't extend very high up. This has been mentioned a fair few times though, not sure why it's not in game exactly though.

It's good and realistic.
Dunno what's the problem with it cause i can see it between buildings.
Maybe u should fly a bit higher or ask the SL where he is.

i usually have to ask but its not realistic it should go straight up not just a big cloud its susposed to be to mark you position not to cover you those are for different smoke grenades

Indeed, a signal smoke grenade isn't the same as a cover smoke grenade. The signal grenade should, if possible, extend in a tall, narrow coloumn, while the cover smoke should act as it does now.

I think it may be possible.

Allied Intent Xtended Website : The premiere coop and single player mod for battlefield 2! Home The second to last item in the AIX FAQ shows an image of the Laser Smoke Marker. Although it's used by an aircraft vehicle, it seems the smoke effect can go up in a column sort. :)

Yes, of course its possible. The high detail smoke coming out of the grenade is going up, too. Would be not much of a deal to have bigger clouds behave like that too. Dunno why it isn't like that right now, maybe the thin smoke column would be actually harder to see due to the screen resolution limits on long range (kashan-wise).

I'm SURE pilots used to have grenades that did that a few versions back. Problem is, as the smoke don't render until you're fairly close, it made them somewhat useless.
