Blues

Post by UncleRob199 »

I know music for helicopters has been suggested, but what I would really like to hear is radio music in jeeps, particularly in the American ones. Having a squad travel into combat with some blues playing such as Stevie Ray Vaughan would really motivate my fighting attitude more than you might think. Blues would sounds really classic, and imagine leaving the jeep to fight insurgents and you can still hear it playing behinds the building where you left the jeep etc.

I know this is quite a silly suggestion that won't technically change the gameplay very much, and may make the game feel like an old war movie sometimes, but hey I would love it.

they had music in battlefield vietnam, and the bomb cars get music so why not the good guys too the heli music would be a nice touch.but in the jeep it might give away your position.

Hhmmm anyone say BIG TARGET. I mean if u drive around on any map now u are a target but if music is playing and its still playing when u leave the jeep or etc. U can be pin pointed by the enemy then I mean having that we would have some moron over using it and get a squad killed. Buts thats what i think

It'd be good for comic relief or morale building being able to play Wagner in the transport huey for example when left clicking.

Think Operation Barracuda and Apocolapyse Now. :)

Thing is in the bomb cars its kinda funny when you just see some red car drive past with music blaring out, but in say a humvee, it will just look silly then you will just fire an RPG at them and then possibly laugh.

hmm, my immediate thoughts are pretty negative.

Although after watching alot of documentary's about the Iraqi war, where the troops are driving for hours etc, they all seem tohave some kind of music playing in the intercoms.

Maybe a bit of Disturbed playing for the tanks, some jonny cash for a hummer?

Plus you've got to worry about the copywright's on all these songs....

There still owned by some1, unless you pick up a guitar and play something i suppose, or get the owners permission, but i doubt you'd get that without some kind of royalty.

come to think of it, im sure we could get a recording of some PR players off mumble singing a song or 2 lol

Can we have the first weapon in the transport choppers to play "Ride of the Valkyries"? That would be ace.

Lol, I was thinking something similar to what the Goldeneye Source mod have done with all the level music. As far as I know they never got rights to cover the original OST.

Yeah exactly what I meant by Wagner :)
PILOT
"We've got it spotted."

KILGORE
"Put on heading 270, assume attack formation."

PILOT
"That's a roger. Ok, we're going in."

KILGORE
"We'll come in low, out of the rising sun, and about a mile out,
we'll put on the music... Yeah, I use Wagner -- scares the hell
out of the slopes! My boys love it !"

KILGORE
"Put on psch-war operations, make it loud.
Shall we dance ?"

Wagner's Ride of the Valkyries starts blasting away from the speakers
attached to the helicopters.
The choppers start firing :

CLEAN
"Run Charlie !"
:D

Mumble would be an alternative, but there's a lot of complications with that at the moment.

Main problem to my understanding is that it would be heard by everyone not in game as well as those within your radius.

Also if you were still using your mic (as opposed to using stereo mix and basically muting yourself) you'd be playing pretty crappy quality music with added feedback.

I'd say no! Gives a total vietnam feeling to me. Sure they play music on the long times between patrols or battles. But dont forget: The PR map is a combat zone. Dont think modern day army's play music there. That will obstruct comms, voices and weapon sounds.

For choppers : Hell no! no realism in that.
For HMVEES: Yea why not as long as its a option and u can turn it off if u need to.

I swear i've watched a clip of a US tank crew talking about playing music through their headsets during battle in Iraq.

But there is a difference between that and blasting music outside the vehicle through speakers.

I say add a radio for choppers but only something that can be heard within say 15 metres so that u wouldn't always hear the music as a chopper goes over but as the pilot and people in the chopper you would.

There is soo many songs i'd love to hear flying a huey into battle.
Get Ready -Rare Earth
Another one bites the dust - Queen
Hell's Bells- ACDC
T.N.T.- ACDC
Star Wars song whatever the very well known one is.
Definetly something from The Who maybe Baba o' Reily?
Fourtunate Song - CCR
Paint It Black -The Rolling Stones
Welcome to the Jungle- Guns N Roses
War- Edwin Starr
Psychotic Reaction - Count Five
Thunderstuck - ACDC
Drop your Guns - April Wine
Freebird- Lynyrd Skynyrd
White Rabbit -Jefferson Airplane
I could go on but it would take a while...
