I think I've bailed out pretty much every time I've been shot down. If you are being obliterated instantly you aren't evading very hard or you're just doing it wrong.

One addition, a "Survivor" kit that the pilot can request from a chopper.
Of the 3 Pilot Extractions I've been on in PR, two were by Blackhawk on Kashan and one was by Warrior and Land Rovers on Basrah. I think a helicopter extraction is the most used way, so a Survivor kit with hands, Red Smoke and a Bandage that can be requested at the Helicopter so that the pilot can get in would be another kit needed, though it'd just be a pilot kit with a different weapon loadout.

Epic suggestion McLuv.
Turkeymeister's realistic crash + this = pure win.
Any comments from the DEVs?

Yea, Badmojo suggested that on IRC as well, and I agree, the few times I've been shot down as a Pilot, I've usually had choppers come to the rescue, so you wouldn't be able to fly with your Jet pilot's kit. though, if that's the case, you could just grab the Helo pilot's kit off the chopper, but that wouldn't be as interestingTirak wrote:One addition, a "Survivor" kit that the pilot can request from a chopper.

Yea, is it just me, or do DEVs seem to be able to hop all over suggestions that can't/won't happen, but take a long time in replying to more feseable onesTannhauser wrote:Epic suggestion McLuv.

I think it's because they're having their seeded little meetings in their own forums; discussing suggestions, kissing turkeys bottoms, performing strange dances and manipulating the stock market, THEN they come back and provide input on the good ideas

if you go down in the plane and get a helo extraction you can get into just a regular seat just dont sit in the front seat

Because in this set up, the Jet Pilot can't get in any seat of the helicopter to prevent airborne insertions.awqs wrote:if you go down in the plane and get a helo extraction you can get into just a regular seat just dont sit in the front seat

Yes, that's the only potential problem with the suggestion as it is now, but can easily be fixed by requesting a helicopter pilot's kit off the helicopter. Or, alternatively, we can make it so the front passenger seat is enterable for the Jet pilot, but only that one, so that you can't have airborn squad assaults.Tirak wrote:Because in this set up, the Jet Pilot can't get in any seat of the helicopter to prevent airborne insertions.

I still think a Crash Survivor or the like kit should be implemented. And What happens when 2 seater aircraft go down? You're going to need more than one seat open.McLuv wrote:Yes, that's the only potential problem with the suggestion as it is now, but can easily be fixed by requesting a helicopter pilot's kit off the helicopter. Re: Differentiated Pilot kits, plus a solution so everyone's happy.
Alright, this is looking good!
Just to recap:
Helo Pilot;
- No chute - to prevent para drops and the like
- Knife & carbine - for self defense if forced to crash land
- Unable to pilot planes
Jet Pilot;
- Has a parachute - for when shot down at high alt
- Only a pistol, realistic, and as a jet is valuable asset most pilots wont ditch for a few kills
- Unable to fly choppers
- Would request a new kit (helo pilot) if picked up by chopper, again to prevent para drops
Ok with that recapped, can we have a word from the dev's as to whether this is a possible/realistic etc idea?
And are there any minor flaws we've missed that need to be addressed/fixed?
Good work on this McLuv, keep it up

Well, yes. That, or we could provide a single seat, the front copilot seat, for downed pilots to return in, which might allow kit limiting if needed, though that's a topic in itself that doesn't need to be discussed.Mary.au wrote: - Would request a new kit (helo pilot) if picked up by chopper, again to prevent para drops
Otherwise, yes. The list you've recapped is correct.

Re: Differentiated Pilot kits, plus a solution so everyone's happy.
The evac problem i think i have a solution (sorry if its been said just im rushing and not rly time to read another 2 pages of posts) On maps that have jets there are 2 planes which required only 3 kits needed for to fly them. Implement your jet pilot kit idea but limit it to only 3, so you wont be able to go HALO jumping as if you did you would get kicked for just wasting time instead of flying a jet.
