Tracers, their use, significant?

Post by 666planer »

What are the use of tracers? I think there probably a way you can determine were your bullets hitting so that you can adjust it to be more accurate, they could also be used to let you buddies know what your shooting at or to let the enemy know were you are.
Please post what you think tracers are for, if you like them or not.

Anyways my suggestion is an option to use tracer bullets or not

(To let you know what I mean when I say tracer) My definition of a tracer: In PR the green or just colored thing that is your bullet when you shoot, In real life: A chemical that can go on the tip of a bullet that when shot the bullet glows because of the chemical, creating a "trace" left behine and on the bullet.

Not every gun in the middle east had tracers. I think there should be some option to choose tracers or not, or maybye they should come with the kits.

Yeah I know there fun an all, but whata bout when your a spec op goin to the enemy base as sneaky as you can, or a soldier a mbushing a squad from a large distance... you shoot about 5 bullets on semiauto 1 of the enemies squad members go down while the rest immediatly see were the tracers are coming from and give you bleep.(they give you away)

I often determine if I'm getting fired upon by enemies or friendlies based on tracer colour, however, I for one could really live without them though.

Well, someone had to post it..

But on-topic I think tracers are more often used to locate the enemy, rather then to guide your teammates to the target. I dont know why, but it's often quite hard to see friendly outgoing tracers clearly.

at least on the game, What is the difference of locating enemy targets and letting your team see were they are? Either way your buddies if there watching are gonna see your bullets and what they hit so there basicaly the same thing.

Are all tracers yellowish? because I have never seen tracers that arn't unless there in a game.

Ultimate stealth = no shooting at all.

Tracers are good, and relative realistic. Fine as they are right now.

The way they have it it looks like an airsoft gun shooting green pellets, watch the utube on page 2 if you want to know what they are susposed to look like.

i dont think so, they might but we would have to know the make and model of these rounds...or shoot them but i'm sure you wouldnt want to. my personal opinion would be these different colours are simply there as a way to determine which are tracers and which are not when loading, the difference in colours is just well...whatever paint, or dye they had when they were mixing the chemicals.

also i dont see why tracers come in different colours in game, thats just simplifying the process of IDing friendly or foe.

Most armies use them in combat, as far as I know, so they're realistic. And I don't think having the option to select whether or not you want to use them is actually possible in the BF2 engine.

Tracers have multiple uses IRL as well as in-game. In the Army, we use them for directing fire. A squad leader will shout for his lads to fire on his tracer. Then he can fire off a couple of rounds at the target, and all the blokes will fire at where his tracer hits. Some soldiers (Kenway - can't remember the spelling  ) use them as indication of how many rounds they've fired. Put the bottom three rounds as tracer, for instance, and when you have two tracers in a row, you know you're on your last round.

There are different coloured tracers as well. The Norwegian Army uses red, and so does the US, as far as I know. The colour depends on the chemicals used to create the tracer effect.

Different coloured tips on rounds can indicate different types of rounds (tracer or incendiary, for example). Our tracer has an orange tip, if I recall correctly.

More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.
