The sniper rifles should be "deployed" before firing

Post by TheParadoX »

Hello,

IMO it would be more realistic if the sniper rifle should be in a "deployed" mode before being shot in a prone position, just like the heavy machinegun.

That way, it would simulate the shooter depoying his bipod or maybe the little stabilizator sandbags used to support the rifle.

Plus, the angle of shooting would be reduced (by lowering the sensibility of the mouse when depoyed), reducing the high unrealistic insta-180 degree turns while prone.

Maybe there could be a difference in the settle time when shooting in deployed mode and n crouch position. Or maybe restrict the shooting to the prone position only.

Just my 2 cents :)

5+ for me. I have always thought this. But how much more accurate would the sniper be in Depolyed mode?

I remember somebody else posting something like this in an unrelated post, and for once I 100% agree. This would make sniping better/easier?, but more importantly it kind of IS realistic.
And the sniper has many open slots, so why not?

I agree for marksman and sniper, almost more so for marksman.

and what purpose does the undeployed mode serve?

WEll it wouldnt make it easier, if anything it would me less convenient IMO. I would get rid of the undeployed mode, forcing the shooter to use the rifle only in deployed mode. Sniping is too easy right now, so why not add a little realistic restriction ?

I think someone who's a good enough shot to become a military sniper will be able to shoot quite accurately without "deploying" their rifle.

That link is a resuggestion but the suggestion makes more sense, there should be a deployed mode for snipers and possibly marksmen, but it should simply be for reducing recoil and deviation.

Fire from crouch/standing in case you're using an obstacle to cover yourself.

Someone deployed can't turn around 180 in a second like they can in the current PR.
Also, it takes a relatively longer time to deploy yourself, simulating the time sniper use IRL in order to set their position properly before aiming.
The steadying time and deviation would be both decreased while deployed, however you are much weaker/immobilized when deployed and if anybody sneaks up on you/starts shooting at you, you're dead.
While, undeployed, you fire like you do now, but in return of being less accurate, you can quickly move away if you're being fired upon.

I don't see why you should HAVE to use deployed in prone, if you wanna deal with the increased deviation and recoil cos of wanting to take a quick shot then why not?

Yes, deploying it should completely remove the 8 second waiting time.
Instead you get whatever little time it takes for the animation to bring up the bipods.

Well, maybye only if you want it to be more accurate, because I hunt deer and shoot targets with sniper rifles while standing up.

It should allow you to fire from the crouched position with VERY good accuracy then. Because sniping out of windows and stuff right now isn't really possible.

I thought having the bipod deployed increases the stability when aiming it.. When your in prone. I think it should have two choices like Automatic Rifleman, Deployed and Undeployed.

Snipers should be deployed or shot = ****. Marksmen should have the deployed option, but still a decent system un-deployed.

What about this: when deployed, the rifle shoots like it does now, except an "arc of fire" is added, like the automatic rifleman.
When not deployed, the rifle shoots like a marksman

this is a good idea, Heres my input,

non-deployed mode - same accuracy, similar or more deviation, more recoil, longer settle time, no setup time

Deployed mode - same accuracy, similar or less deviation, less recoil, short or no settle time, setup time required

They don't call a sniper a sniper for nothing y'know? All this should effect is weapon stability.

In my opinion, the sniper rifle is a deployed weapon already. It takes eight seconds for the deviation from wasd movement to settle which is simulating you deploying it. The only difference between that and the deployed mode of the LMG's is that they can only be shot prone when in deployed mode (which may change in a future release: you can shoot deployed LMG's from any stance but will still have the huge movement deviation penalty).
