Some suggestions from a noob
Been playing PR for around a week now & love it! I have 3 suggestions....2 minor & 1 major.
Minor Suggestions:
1) Please increase the visiblity of the Medic/First Aid HUD cross. The cross that comes up in the lower right of the screen when you heal someone or yourself. Make it larger perhaps?
2) Move the compass to the top of the screen or allow players to decide thru options or whathaveyou where they wish it to be displayed.
Major Suggestion:
1) Remove the ability to tap out when you are dead or provide a server option that does that. Or make the punishment for tapping out even greater. Why? Because no one ever waits for a Medic to revive them. They always tap out. Not only is this annoying to Medics(getting to the person only to have them tap out as you try to revive them) but it also wastes tickets & is unrealistic & reminicsent of run-n-gun games. Part of the game is laying flat on your back wounded & dying waiting for the Medic. Doing so is part of the game, part of the realism expierence but yet no one does it. Ppl should only tap out when their SL or Medic says it's okay.

I like the last one a little bit, and the first one because that has annoyed me a little.

Re: Some suggestions from a noob
Gazz, for the first one, you don't actually see the bag disappear in 1sr person. I don't like HUD much, but I'm sure if you gave the first person animation for healing an overhaul it would be more evident when you were healing people.gazzthompson wrote:minor 1:

For the second one, if it's possible to move the compass through the options I wouldn't see why not...
I don't mind the current compass, but options are always nice. I don't know if it's that easy of a thing to enable, though, or if it's worth the trouble.
As for your major suggestion, I agree with Gazz, that most people tend to wait. There are many disadvantages to not getting revived anyways: Having to regroup, losing points, having a longer spawn time, etc...

1) I have yet to hear that sound when using a kit on myself. I like the fact one must stop & either look down or go prone & look up to heal oneself, prevents or discourages regeneration soldiers, but having the cross just a tad bit larger(1/3 larger?) does not change the fact one must still stop & look up/down to heal. Just aids the Medic in telling if indeed he is healing himself. I'm pretty sure Medics in real life can tell whether they are healing themselves or not.gazzthompson wrote:minor 1:

2) You may be playing with a different crowd on different servers. Come play with me sometime & you will what see what I see. Also your idea of what a 'appropiate time' to tap out may be different than mine.

Re: Some suggestions from a noob
its VERY annoying when som1 gives up, but by takign away give up you give everyone 2min spawns...thats the COLLABORATOR spawntime if they get killed. Now, I'm all for realism, and I'm all for a hard game.1) Remove the ability to tap out when you are dead or provide a server option that does that. Or make the punishment for tapping out even greater. Why? Because no one ever waits for a Medic to revive them. They always tap out. Ppl should only tap out when their SL or Medic says it's okay.
But 120 seconds spent out of game if there is no chance of a revive (assuming no medics are near etc) is just not good imo.

Pretty much al I wanted to say was said but I wanted to give you a tip:
Tell your downed team-mates to wait for you! If they know you are coming for them they will wait. Its just that a lot of people dont take it for granted that they got a medic in the squad and that they will get a ress. Usually they are like: Oh we got a medic. sigh..... im just gonna give up. But if you tell them your coming they know you know your job and next time: they will wait
thats how I medic. I always tell them whos next and who im gonna get after that.

Maybe make the HUD colors red instead of white, so you see it better?

Brilliant suggestion, I support it completely. Sorry for bringing up CounterStrike here folks, but a BIG reason that game became so popular was that it forced people to wait 5-6 minutes for a new round when they got killed.Teufel Eldritch wrote: Major Suggestion:

That very tangible punishment meant everybody stayed on their toes to stay alive.
Result: much more realistic player behaviour and exciting matches for all.

I dont like the idea of not letting u tap out as probaly 30% of deaths in PR are some stupid accident not even caused by you and your going to be annoyed if you keep having to wait 2 minutes because some idiot can't fly a helicopter. And as others has posted ive probaly seen a guy tap out 3 maybe 4 times.

Re: Some suggestions from a noob
I have to be perfectly honest and say I judge which is faster, waiting the full 3 min for a revive or spawning and running back and go with the lower number.
The caveat to that is when tickets around getting low, then I always wait for the medic.
I would not change the color of the cross because then it would get lost in the blood spatter but making it 30% larger would be nice as it is hard to see sometimes and the healing sound can be lost in battle noise at times.
Off Topic ....Does anyone else see the face of a wolf in the bleed out screen ? on the right side ?
The compass seems fine to me but like McLuv said, more options are always nice and maybe the compass on top would give more of a true HeadsUpDisplay feeling and let you see the numbers w/o looking away.

Re: Some suggestions from a noob
i think a good solution to the man down problem
atm, the standard spawn is 30secs (without penatlies).
so it is pretty much pointless to give up before 30secs, yet you still can ?!?!?!?
so my suggestion would be that you can only give up after at least 30secs of being down, as you aint going to respawn before this anyway and it'll give medics a chance
ofc the option is still there that after the inital 30secs you can still wait longer for a medic
just makes more sense to me to have a system like that

Well sometimes, if my SL needs me to respawn with a specific kit, I actually don't want to be revived, so I'll hit the give up button as soon as I die.Sars99 wrote: so my suggestion would be that you can only give up after at least 30secs of being down, as you aint going to respawn before this anyway and it'll give medics a chance

Re: Some suggestions from a noob
I was under the impression that the reason the medic icon doesn't always show is the same reason the other icons fail to appear sometimes (a bf2 problem). Like when you have to hop out and back into a vehicle to see the repair marker, isn't this the same issue?
As far as the tapping out goes, I think it should make you wait the full respawn timer out and then you could choose to wait or not. This is how I do it anyway, but sometimes I accidentally wait too long in a situation where there is no chance of revival, this would make it easier to tell when you can and cant respawn. Props to Sars for the suggestion.
The compass is fine IMO but sure, if it can be made into a movable hud object via options then more power to you

ah good point i'd never thought about it that wayJay wrote:Well sometimes, if my SL needs me to respawn with a specific kit, I actually don't want to be revived, so I'll hit the give up button as soon as I die.
though seeing as you can no longer request kits from RPs its less of an issue, you could be revived and find a nearby crate for kits, provided that your team is a competent [sp] one.
good point though

If you choose a different kit after the 30 sec but while still dead I am pretty sure you will be revived with that kit.
I have been shot and while waiting for a possible revive I switched from rifleman to medic so I could help when I gaot back from the RP and then I was revived with the medic kit.
No friendly or enemy had stolen my kit so I have to assume that it changes you while you are dead.
