i would have never thought of adding the magnifiers, it really puts some depth to the rifle.

Do a sand camo, that's what I meant. There should be a pic of it earlier in the thread. Basically, desert camo the bits that are winter camo on johnandreas' 416. If you can be bothered, of course. I won't demand anything.

well, 'bout that little desert camo.... is it really neccessary as i got the impression that most soldiers dont really paint theyre weapons.

^ and even if they did all camo up there weapons, it would start to look really repetative. since all rifles would have exactly the same paint job.

painting rifles is like painting any other piece of art work. it shows expression and personal style. which nobody can copy

So, a desert camo, on the Snow camo style.
And about the desert version of the HK-417? I can apply the same methood on the 416

Would be awesome, but we might still want to consult with johnandreas on it. Would think the 417 was an even better candidate for painting, what with snipers being camouflaged and all.

So, even if i have already maded the Textures/Normals/DDS files and the desert version for the 417, it isn't ready to export yet?

It looks great, but the gradient on the handguard just looks weird to me
