Knife rush
So for the past few weeks I have been messing around with knife rushing and it seems a pretty effective tactic. mainly on forested maps its a great tactic when your squad is in a fire fight you rush the enemy and get behind them and silently take them out one by one, by the time they scream they got knifed there teammates are already dead.
Was playing Operation ghost train the other day as Chinese on the H server and I scored about 8 knife kills in 5 minutes.
I also find this works extremely well as insurgent as most Americans chose the ACOG m16 which is kinda hard to hit someone at close range while they are zig zagging, I find it works better when using the bayonet purely for the awesomeness factor of a bayonet rush. Its also pretty demoralizing to see a wave of enemy's charging straight at you not firing it causes allot of confusion on the battle field for the enemy team.

If I ever see a bunch of people charging at me not shooting it would be hardly demoralizing for me. I'd just switch to auto/burst mode and light them up then switch to my own knife.

Hmm strange u wud say that as ive often tried to use the knife/bayonet/restrainer without it being very effective. I remember once i snuck up on an insurgent and punched him about 5 times to no effect before he turned round and noticed me. This seems to happen everytime i use the knife, no effect dispite the 'dust' cloud hit indication. Also the bayonet and 'punch' seem to have a shorter range than appearances would suggestnick20404 wrote:So for the past few weeks I have been messing around with knife rushing and it seems a pretty effective tactic.

-You know that scene in "We were soldiers" (**** movie, BTW) where the guy is bayonet charging Mel Gibson? I got bayonet charged in-game, turned out just the way it did in the movie

Re: Knife rush
My whole squad (US) got knifed today on Fallujah.
If the knifer notices a scoped aquad on a roof, it's possible to make it work, but it's purely luck when it does - it depends on the enemy forgetting to guard the back entrance.

I only tend to draw the knife at close range (1-10m away) when i hear the infamous click.
50 50 if it works better than trying to leg in and reload either isnt that survivable.

Re: Knife rush
Remember was on Bi Ming as british we were on communication island and we noticed a full chinese squad shooting across river at another squad, me and another guy fixed bayonets and while ohter 4 ppl were shooting we just charged in and took 3 of em out instantly, was funny for the last guy as we both bayoneted him at the sam time.
(But back to topic) this was one of the few times a knife charge has worked for me. I find it only works if you have a VERY short distance to travel e.g other side of a low wall, jumped over it stabbed a US medic in the face, or when you are coming behind the enemy forces.

Re: Knife rush
Well think about it, when your whole squad is in the middle of a firefight and out of the corner of your eye you see someone zigzagging threw the brush would your whole squad direct its attention away from the fire fight in fear of being overran just to kill 1 guy, most of the time in a heavy fire fight you don't even notice if someone runs by if they are not trying to shoot you.
Most people would freak out if I get close enough and start opening up like most people in this thread have said thats when you take quick cover behind a tree etc and once you hear the bullets stop rush in while they are reloading.
works every time. Ill try to make a video today.

Re: Knife rush
I remember being in a bayonet squad once where we had one guy spray at the enemy and the rest of us charge. We actually had a positive kill to death ratio. Wiped out a few squads. The key is to not charge 100+ meters in the open.

Re: Knife rush
I get at least 1 knife kill per round. You flank the squad, pull your knife and hit them from back to front when theyre distracted by their target. They think they are getting 1 shotted in the face and you come away with 6 knife kills. My record is 9 on Fools Road ^^

When is this ever the key?Solid Knight wrote:The key is to not charge 100+ meters in the open.
Never experienced a bayonet/knife squad. Think it depends on what map. In close quarters it could be effective yes.

One good use for the bayonet is covering doors. Stay on the side of the door, as people rush in stab away at them.

I remember Bi Ming (Night), some guy had killed (knifed) our entire squad, and kept harassing us so much that we devoted about 5 minutes to hunt him. We never found him. He knifed us some more.

Re: Knife rush
Operation Ghost Train, start of the match, chinese rushed to build a fob near our main so our squad engaged. I fixed my baynet and charged around them getting a medic and the guy he was healing then another chinese not too far away, my squad finished off the last one but they were cheering me on about the rush.
Another time 7 gates, not a rush but I was at River Outpost on the top floor camping the stairs with my baynet. Took an entire squad out as they attempted to clear me out one at a time without using nades.
And lastly, Fools Road as Chechan. Had a HAT on a hill north of the village, had just taken out a BTR since the nearby tank was preoccupied. Suddenly my squad behind me gets taken out by sniper fire. I run south and knife the sniper, cycled his kit where my squad lead then took before going back to my old position. Knifed two more, shot another then knifed one last person before going down. Crawling in the grass is very useful to sneak by your enemies.
