Replace ( Kits ) with ( Equipment )

Mabey instead of having a little Green Bag on the ground when ever some one dies, There should be the gun the person who droped it was carrying with some indication of what kind of kit it was. such as.

Have a model of the gun Gun of the Kit laying on the ground with a piece of the kit identifying the kit

(Placed like the weapons are found in at cashes or mosque locations laying around on the ground)

Riflemen kit : either acog / iron / close range scope on the gun
officer : acog + pistol + gltd
Medic : rifle + Med pack
Specialist : rifle + Shotgun

Special kits :
Sniper : Rifle
HAT / LAT : Tube
combat engineer : C4+ Mine + rifle / shotgun

And so on

All the kit bags have an icon which displays what kind of kit they are.

having the appearance of loose equipment is extremely buggy for the BF2 engine. it has been tried in test builds and stupid stuff happens. so that bag system is in place because its just far easier to deal with, and the message that needs to get accross is illustrated just as well.

just curious, what sort of problems were there?

The insurgent weapons always seemed ok to me when they were just weapon models.

yea .... i dont see how much of a problem it is if you just replace the bag with the model of a gun laying on the ground.. and it wont be a loose item such as a dropable ammo back. it will be a static object like a supply box or repair station. ( even though they move )

Well if you can have different textures for all kits then i suppose you can have different models...It would make sense and the models are allready ingame so i doubt it would be hard to do it.

If possible, this will be included, as obviously the vanilla kit bags are not ideal and kind of an eye sore.

The bug is a bf2 engine thing, it glitches out the weapon in the players hands in 3rd person on a dedicated server. You see everything fine from 1st person but 3rd person the guy is running around with the weapon in his stomach, and some other weird glitchiness. The insurgent kits work differently because they are pickup kits.

But it might be possible to do it some other way, if someone finds a way no doubt you will see a post in the dev journal about it cause it is one of those few remaining vbf2 things that breaks immersion I think (killing a dude and having a big bag pop up next to them instead of just the weapon).

Its not a high priority though, since its just a minor visual aspect.

If you think you can make this work and plan to do some tests, be sure to do it on a dedicated server with multiple testers to make sure the the weapon is not glitching in 3rd person.

I thought it was just a problem with the kit geometries that now make you pick up enemy helmets?

Isnt it possible having the kitbag replaced with a model of the gun ???? ( possibly to fix the problem is :
1. create a ghost model of the pick up bag 2. Fit the gun model inside the bags shell 3. set the model of the gun as a pick up weapon / Kit 4 use the kit as it would be used by any regular pick up kit bag.

Not Have the actuial gun the model was holding fall to the ground and pick up that model. i could see how that could be glitchy

Id rather have a glitchy gun half buried in concrete than a big shiny (magically self packaging) green bag laying around in randomness.
