Old M249 model?

Post by DeltaFart »

Im just expressing my curiosity here. Why is it that the M249 from vanilla isn't used anymore for the US factions? I thought the version they used was the one with the heatshield on top? was it dropped for the current model since the model needed work or they wanted to make their own? I could tackle it so I could work on a more complex weapon after I do the SPG9 and am told what to do with my M1014 and KS23.
All the best until I get my sound system working again and can actually play the game again!

If I remember correctly, the old M249 model looked like someone took a dump and called it a gun. The Minimi that was made for the British bears enough resemblance to the M249 that the Devs decided to use it in place of the vBF2 M249.

While there are certainly minor cosmetic differences, such as heatshields and the buttstock, it still looks closer to the real thing than the vBF2 model does.

There's no point in making an entirely new m249 model when i could just make a heatshield and a buttstock for the minimi and slap them on.

honestly the new m249 that the devs made looks pretty kickass i dont see the point of making another one. but if you have modelling talent, theres about 1000 other things that really need to be made, just look at the community mod section and you will see theres alot of demand for someone who can model. anything other than a model thats already been remade would be a welcome contribution to pr.

Lol, like the picture several posts above?

Considering the picture was posted by Aussie developer Chuc in the blog I assume it is for the Australian faction.
