SPR sound effect - what?

Hi and congratulations! I love the 0.3! :)

However, I started of as a sniper on Mashtuur City, beautifully skinned indeed, but what's up with the gunshot effect?

The 9mm's is also wrong though.The only type of firearm that can be this silent with a supressor is a 22. cal pistol.

An SPR with supressor would sound like an M16, just with a bit lower sound in db, and sharper. Black Hawk Down got it really good on Delta operative Cordy's M733 with supressor.

So, my suggestion is to change this sound ;)

yeah.. i have this wierd feeling whenever i fire the SPR, that it's too silent.

Haven't heard it yet. I'm not having much fun with 0.3 at the moment. As soon as I got in, I go on and visit Gloryhoundz and it's a mess. Everyone wants to be USMC to get the weapons, so everyone on MEC is bored and decides to TK each other. Yep, I got put on MEC. This morning I had great fun playing with a few familiar faces, but now the floodgates have opened everyone wants to try it and it's ruining the experience for others with all the vBF2 players signing up. Shame we can't limit who gets to play this beautiful mod. The amount of prone spammers, lone wolves and snipers is dreadful at the moment, I just hope some more proper community members get online.

Also, what's up with the amount of questions flying around? Did anyone read the readme? I mean what the hell else is there to do when you're downloading 750mb? Every five seconds they're starting a map vote for 'Night Karkand' or 'Night Sharqi' or anything else new, just because they can't be bothered to wait for the rotation or try singleplayer.

Anyway, I'm sure the fuss will die down soon and I'll actually get my hands on an SPR.

What hell do think happens when new versions come out, and frankly there are not enough people loyal to PR to be complaining about vbf2 players. I get that feeling of "better than you" from quite a few pr players.

Malik, sorry your not having much fun. I was on GH last night for about 30 minutes and did not see this type of behavior but we MUST bear in mind that the guys that have been around since .254 need to teach the new players how things work. I will be on A LOT this weekend cleaning stuff up....

There was a problem with the custom SPR sound affect that was going to be in the release so it was decided to use the 9mm sound as a temp fix.

Im sure it will be changed sometime in the future.

Suppressed weopon sounds are very difficult to reproduce in game due to the many possible sound settings that can be used. I think we will see a much improved version in .4

Oh, no need to apologize Wraith. The mod's perfect, it's just a shame we can't have the perfect utopian community too. :P I was just shocked about how different my game earlier today was compared to the one I just had. Earlier today, it felt like everyone I was playing with was from the forums and everyone was in organised squads, all being led by the commander. Today I get in and it's every man for himself, ignoring pickup requests and trying to get votes for the new maps and asking silly questions about things and complaining that they can't do stuff. Hopefully when you Americans get online later we can have some real, organised fun. :)

Malik I had some fun with you today... I know what you mean. Not the same PRMM experiance... just gotta wait to weed out all the people that are "trying" it out but you gotta remember everyone was once new to the mod. I remember when I first played the mod on its first release I asked "Does the .50 cal sniper still shoot through chopper glass?" ... seriously I have no idea what I was thinking.

The first time I played it, I admit I thought the game was glitchy as hell. I was about 20m from two soldiers with an M24, I shot at them four times and missed each shot. I was confused why I had no HUD, why the unlocks were gone and why I kept getting hit when I was sure the area was clear. Then I begun to realise that these features were what made PR special, and the reality experience I had been begging for on the Totalbf2 forums was finally here. :)

Actually I prefer to play as the opposition jsut so I can steal thta gun off a corpse, rubbing it in my victims face.

The community is obviously going ot have an inlfux of new people, I played with a few w****** today but the majority were just inexperienced.
If some new people were in my sqaud I just upped my game to help them out, unfortunately 'upping' my game doesn't really do much when your as bad as me :p

This was discussed alot by the testers and over 25 sounds were offered, i am not aware if they ever changed it or not.

People listen, this is coming to you straight from a tester:

We had problems implementing the SPR sound correctly. There was a bug with SPR sound, and we couldn't use it ingame. It will likely be fixed in a patch.

And while you're concern is apprectiated, don't assume it's an easy to fix bug.

I actually came up with a sound for the SPR that is the same sound you hear in Black Hawk Down. But it didn't get passed
Well you chose a good sound for it, well done ^_^. Maybe the BHD sounds could be reconsidered?
