Illuminated Sight.

Post by Hotrod525 »

Sup every one, i'm here to suggest something not THAT much important, but since realism is based on DETAIL... Is it possible to had an illumited Aimpoint/Acog like they are suppose to be in real life ?

The Acog had a fiberoptical wire on top to take the light from outside to illuminate the "red crosshaire" and the M68 Aimpoint had a battery so... its suppose to look like this :

rather than a "painted" red point. I know its possible to do since vbf2 do it whit the spec ops weapons.

I think that aimpoint wasn't part of the model, it might be different for the current sights because they are actually models

Indeed, the old aimpoint was a 2d sight, and the dot appeared instantly when rightclick was pressed. As the new one is 3d, it's a part of the model so you can't do it the same way.

I do agree though that it could do with making a bit brighter if possible.

thinking about he HAT overlay...I don't think they can delay the appearance of the dot if they chose the vBF2 method.

Would be nice to get a better dot tbh, the vbf2 method did have the advantage that the dot remained centered like IRL as well..

The HAT overlay has a kind of animation...I wonder if they could match the dotmovement to the deploy animation or somthing...but I bet that would look aweful.

The illuminated portion of the 3d reticle for the ACOG could be moved forward or backwards within the 'scope housing' allowing it to be 'illuminated' by the map lighting.

Well isn't it possible to have animated ingame textures? I know that in BF2142 there are such animated textures on computer screens.. Or .. I think.

Any info bout' that?

Think you're right, but that could just be one of those things they added to 2142 after bf2. I also know the SUSAT has the option of a slight illumination, but that's for night time.

Been wondering, what is the advantage with dot sights over iron sights, since the red dot sight is just an iron sight with a red dot over it inside a scope?

Confused? - Good :)

yeah, why didn't they remove the front post when using the red dot? the front post is an obstacle now :( makes the red dot behave more like this:

if you zero red dot sights with the front post, why don't you remove it after it's zeroed to gain as much peripheral vision as possible?

BF2 has a animated texture for the tank tracks.

Seems like you would need a whole new UV map then, correct?

Not to mention the fact that you don't see a whole lot of low-profile gas blocks or folding front sights on M16s or M4s outside of Speshul Awps.
