I can only think of one way...
( & I am in no way modding oriented, so this just may be crazy talk )


You know when you shoot a tank round into a concrete wall, and the effect it gives????
The chunks of rock, and debris exploding, & flying off...
....well, can you simply color those chunks red, make the dust red too, and 'apply' it to when the player model gets hit with something big???
...Like when your body flies 150 feet into the air from Artillery, or a SLAM, etc!!!
Is it possible to get rid of that goofy effect, and replace it with the new Gibs one??

Some may say, "Oh my god, thats sick!"
Yes, it is......but I think it would really add to the realism.

I'm sure that if I see one of my squadmates, just basically disappear, & explode into a red, chunky mist........I'd flip the f**k out.
...and it would be awesome.




So, experts...whaddaya' think????

Actually, I did bring this idea up about 3 or 4 years ago...to the modders who paved the way in the original BF 1942.
I think they said something about the bodies having to be 'killed' in one way or nothing...
For instance, even if you knifed a guy...he would still explode. :shock:

So it didnt work then, and I'm not going to get my hopes up for it working now...just thought I'd throw it out there. :p

Sounds... interesting? Let's hope it's possible, I've never seen a body become fine, red mist before. :D

im a tanker , i would love to see a lot of gore when im camping a RP with the type 99 >:]

Building are statics.
Players are....vehicles maybe (bf2 enginewise)?

So it's probably not possible. Unless the vehicles can do this aswell, which I think they do.

But what about people with low settings on effects.
Do they still see the building debris?

you have a difference in the effect on killed players: u get shot => u fall over. u get hit by a tank or arty => you fly like a bird. maybe one could use that or is it just the ragdolls system?

They do a great job at this in Red Orchestra, you shoot intantry with a HEAT round its not pretty, looks like what happend to that guy trying to stick, sticky bombs on the side of that Tiger tank in Saving Private Ryan.
Also you can take limbs off with the PTRD.

This makes me think of CoH lol, whenever I see a tank shell or artillary hit someone there is a giant mist of blood.

I'm all for gibs, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I daresay engine limitations or hardcoded will pop up sooner or later.

should be put on the bottom of the things needed imo,good idea,but becuz im gamplay>graphics and effects belong to graphics....

Also,how real is this,i dont think people will really dissovle in bloodmist and pieces of flesh/skin/bone,it like the sticky bomb guy in saving private ryan,i think he rather had his arm blown off by force of the explosion rather then just him splattering to pieces.
and the front of his boddy would probably be seriously deformed,especially the face

Well, what you say is possible I think, a bit of work depending on how complicated it has to be but I doubt it would be wanted in anyway.

Personally me, and i think alot of others won't like this as i don't play a game to see people explode into blood and i think it could throw alot of people off the game if every time a tank fires a shell at them your gonna see people turn into red mist.

If I had to guess I would say theres a value for the amount of time a body exists after death. So maybe theres a way to adjust that value to zero for death above a certain damage threshold and then have the objects you were suggesting appear where the body just disappeared from.

That sounds like it could work in theory SniperDog, although I dont have any editing skills at all...so I cant test it.
We just need one of the Devs to look into it and piddle with it a bit...

Red orchestra has allot of realistic effects in them. I would actaully rather like a mod of R-O wich has allot of realistic effect+moves etc, than PR.
Maby new idea for mad makers??????

Indeed it's sick. Not too sure if it would be that realistic though, and it seems quite hard to get this right.
In other words am I not sure i'd like to see this...

Sick, is Soldier Of Fortune....or Turok, or the gore mode for RO...
The splitting of heads, disembowling, blood squirting/pumping in fountains of crimson 14 feet into the air, limbs being blown away from the body, decapitations, etc... is sick.

My point is, artillery wouldnt bounce someone 50 feet into the air, neither would a tank shell...warthog bombs, missiles, or even a j-dam...
...those things would pretty much liquify anything they hit... Thats not too bad, think of it as a 'Poof'! "Where'd he go"?????
Much better than the 'super sky-hi bouncy ball soldier' physics we see now when that happens....

Anyone remember 'Merciless MOD' for original BF42? I think FH, DC, and EOD picked up the merciless mini-mod for use in it's mods as well... it had alot of blood, and used it well.

You pretty much nailed my defenition of sick, can't believe you didn't mention cp. As to your point, I totally agree; I've seen enough of the explositions tossing guys like ragdolls into orbit. ;)
