Re: You must join a squad
In the current iteration of the game, especially with more prevalent use of mumble, forced squadding is not as vital as it used to be. Also, *conscientious* squad-locking is vital for ensuring tight, task-orientated, squads; and squad-locking plus kicks for people not in squads is a bad combination.

No, you are making assumptions in which none are true. So stfu and don't post what you can't back upZi8 wrote:Your starting post was enough, its pretty easy to see your attitude as you describe forcing "shit and bullshit".
"I don't want to join squads, I don't need to listen to anyone, I don't..."
And bashing around with posts is even worse, I've registered one year before you and have less than 60 posts, did I win?

Re: You must join a squad
exactly! i mainly play with my normal crew but i have lead a lot of random guys too. i have found the random guys to be very capable soldiers, for the most part. i have run into a decent number of douches but i just kick them and move on. i will not argue with someone in my squad.charliegrs wrote:why are people so afraid of the kick button. the kick button is your friend. i never had a bad squad, EVER, because i kick anyone that deserves it. i dont care if it doesnt seem nice, i give everyone a chance, even if they dont have voip if they play well and listen then i wont kick, but i will kick any moron.
if you are leading with confidence and communicating the plans and taking charge, people will fall right into line. after all, that's exactly what most players want.

Re: You must join a squad
Forcing to join a squad doesn't take insurgency into account. Insurgents (NOT Taleban) can't request kits and I think the messy gameplay with lots of lonewolves only makes it more realistic. IRL insurgents don't move in squads and they do not practice modern tactics. Of course playing in a squad as an insurgent in PR helps alot, but lonewolves are also effective with their IEDs and ambushes and random firebase hunting. Nevertheless, I think the forcing does more bad than good.
Just take it away from all servers and everyone's happy

The lack of Rally Points in the non-Taliban maps guarantees that anyway. Especially given the lack of civi medics in them.ConSs wrote:IRL insurgents don't move in squads

well, im no expert on iraq insurgent tactics but im pretty sure they move in "squads" ie groups of people. just not in the conventional sense of "squads".IRL insurgents don't move in squads and they do not practice modern tactics.

Re: You must join a squad
the Squad system is for VOIP more than anything, if you aren't in a squad, your being a ****** tbh. iGi's server doesn't run this because we deem that fact to be self evident, but I can understand a server admin not having any sympathy for som1 being kicked or being beeped for not being in a squad.
Its not about RL military organisation, its about gameplay organisation (i.e. VOIP)
(and the Taleban have repeatedly been complimented on their usage of modern infantry tactics btw, such as in 3 para by Patrick Bishop in one of the battalion's first engagements they saw Taliban fighters using fire and manoeuvre tactics to great effect.)

Re: You must join a squad
I'm new to the game. On the servers I've checked out, the squad-up systems are annoying because either:
1. The squad is for a certain language speaking people
2. The squad is for a clan only
3. The squad leader has no idea what he is doing
4. You join and just get kicked from the squad for no reason
I understand these rules are put into place to promote teamwork, but so far, my experiences with squads have been pretty lame, and I even come from a strategic, squad-based mod on the HL2 engine.(Empires) Hoping to find some better servers with better people to avoid this problem.
