Apache Fixes (needed) and Ideas
Ok, I know this is really bad, but I finally got around to flying the Apache today in PR. Ground pounding with squads was so much fun forgot about it.
Anyways ok here is a long list of things that need to be corrected.
FLIGHT
-Sluggish Controls
The turning seemed to be very slow like that of a Chinook or a Black hawk.
-Vertical Ascent Slow
When taking off the Apache got off the ground quickly but once in the air it took forever to climb. At max collective (full throttle for those non fliers) the bird can ascend at 20ft/second (ballpark, I dont have a manual on hand).
Keep in mind these are just my thoughts, you don't have to agree with everything I say, I'm just comparing this to the real one.
-Top Speed too slow
Ah-64D Top Speed 160MPH
I could barely make 100 without hitting the dirt
-Little to no warning of incoming missiles
Sensors all over the helicopter (8 in total) warn of a missile flash (aka launch). I just flew around in the Desert and the most warning I had was 2.64 seconds (timed each one)
Modeling
-Missing antenna arm on tail boom
-ECS system Vent covers on back of EFAB non existant
-AH-64D has no Sidewinder missiles.
The harness clips are there, but the software and firing triggers are not there.
-Both EFABs are the same size. Delta Model Crammed more $H!T in there (litterly) and thus the left side (sitting in the pilots seat) EFAB is fatter.
-TADS Thermal/NV
Small fix, the Glass on the left side (red lining around the edge) is the same size (if not larger) than the Laser Designator/TV camera.
-Signal lights/ Slime pads
On the engine covers, the light which flashes at night along with the red constant glow is in one contained "bubble" if you will. Also on the left and right wings, Just behind the Catwalk (section where the tail boom and fuselage meet) and on the back of the tail. At night they glow green (dim glow) but in the day time their just white pads.
-Blade rotation
BIG item. Ok so I wont have to answer later, American helicopters blades spin counter-clockwise...Easy enough right? Ok, have you ever noticed that the blades on the black hawk, chinook, sea king, sea hawk, huey all have something in common? The blades on them are thick and straight. The Apache is different in having this unique 45degree bend in the blade at the tips which allows it to slice through the air instead of CHOPing through the air (make sense where we get Choppers right?)
Well after Jumping in the pilot seat I started looking around and happened to notice, the blades spin from left to right...clockwise ......WOOPS? haha
-Wind Direction Sensors missing
Ok this is a easy static item. There are like bomb looking things which stick off the side of the engine housing and send back data of airspeed and direction.
-Static Discharge
There is a javalin looking pole that comes off the front tip of both wings. Made of steel it discharges electricity or more specifically static-electricity. Touch it and it will seer the skin right off (if the helicopter is running)
Gah this feels like writing an essay...ok next side of the notepad haha
COCKPIT
-Bore scope for helmet alignment off center
-Pilot seat, Mission data (also in Gunner aka Co-pilot)
IDEA INCLUDED
On apaches, there is a box which you insert a laptop looking battery into and close the lid.
In that box is waypoints, GPS coords, and mission objectives, targets, Weather station data
One idea is running up birds, for the black hawk and huey its not needed because they have pretty much manual controls. The apache is different. Its a computer guided everything. What if we had it where you could get in the apache but by scrolling to the data pack (i forget the name) and selecting it (basically inserting it) the Apache's HUD and MFD's would turn on.
-Co pilot (gunner) Sight.
Ok I think I've seen this at least 4 times on the forum with no real topic focused on it. The sights in the Gunner seat is a MFD (smaller in size) and behind that there are handles on both sides for maneuvering the pylons. What there is now is the A model sight and no handles.
-Pilot cockpit needs Delta model upgrade, not Alpha Model Jerry Rig
All the technology in the Alpha model was modified before the real Delta Model came out (this included the MFD's, enhanced IHADSS, yada yada) I'll just have to get with the guy in charge of modeling on that one. and holy cow does it need an upgrade
SOUNDS
-start up
no before you go UGH NOOB read this
The first thing that starts on the apache is the APU. Once the APU builds up the 3000 PSI that the system needs it shoots it over to the NO.1 Engine to start the turbine, then the NO.2 Engine starts off the pressure which builds off NO.1 Engine. At the same time that NO.2 starts, the Rotors turn.
There should be the engine start up sound then a second kick in louder of the engine and the rotor blades start to turn.
-HYDRA
On all our MFD's it displays FFAR (Free Fly Air Rocket i think, no idea)
Just something I noticed.
Other ideas.
Flight Line box
Around the launching areas for Apaches there are Flight line boxes which hold stuff like kitty rubble for cleaning up liquid spills and chain links and chain hooks and just random stuff which would be needed.
AGPU.
Basically a servicing unit which refills the air pressure in the system. Looks like a big box on wheels and a hoses coming off it.
If I re-suggested something please let me know and I'll remove it.

Only the first section seems pretty important.
And the fuel truck has been suggested before

None of these suggestions change gameplay. So really I don't think it's important.

Re: Apache Fixes (needed) and Ideas
Thx
and the other part is its like a petpeve seeing a somewhat alpha modeled apache flying around with an FCR
Oh speaking of which I left one out
-FCR or MMS
What about giving like a radar to the apache which would represent the FCR with red dots of the enemies in front of you? But only with a FOV..not evey where you go (which would be unfair)

Think you need to talk to the Devs and give them a run down on the Apache. Sure they would appreciate your experience.

hoping they'll see it since I don't have a bloody clue who runs that department.Rix wrote:Think you need to talk to the Devs and give them a run down on the Apache. Sure they would appreciate your experience.
I guess not. But I just think it'd be funny. This black guy thats a little slow at our unit who does the pumping and he drives those. He was yelling at us if we knew what we were doing when we were draining the external fuel tank. It was one of those wow are you serious moments.Static wrote:Damn. You wrote alot. Re: Apache Fixes (needed) and Ideas
lol, yea but I do like the suggestions of changing the appearance. And putting in the front radar sounds good. For those windspeed things, is it possible to make those move so they are following with gravity when hovering? It could be edited kinda like a sideways antenna from the abrams or the antenna on the hummer with moves when you move the vehicle. Also a suggestion that i've seen from stuff. Is it possible to put FOD (foreign objects and debris) onto the city maps like scrap metal and stuff that would fly up when you are hovering or pass over with the helicoter? Not hitting the helo all the time or hitting the people near it. I think that'd be another thing to add that does change the gameplay a bit.

"sure you know how?"
"no"
"fuck it! lets do it"
btw refueling has been suggested and probably won't ever make it in game I don't think its possible to have fuel limits but I could be wrong.
Also can't the gun camera for the co pilot look in all directions around the aircraft but cannot fire out of the az limit? I always wondered that but never could find out.

Lol hahahahahahahah. well I say that because its my MOS to know the helicopter, and B its his MOS to know how to drain a fuckin fuel tank but hey we're not pointin' fingers
but what i ment by it was like armorment and damage repairs. Cuz in PR I'm not gonna sit on my *** in the tool shop waiting on some Noob flying around to come in and land and say hey repair me only to have him come back 15 min later....not that I just sit around in real life or anything [looks around suspiciously] [hides xbox 360 controller]

Seems to happen enough espacially that idiot colonel (not saying any names) who was being a smarty pants and ripped off an entire engine and housing. Then said ohhh! so thats why the left side was so light

Yeah, the story behind it is a baby screech owl was found in the wheel well of an F-18 during a pre-flight search on the Truman last year. They named him Fod. There are more photos of him at Navy.mil.Sparatan117 wrote:hahahahahahahahahah I so gotta take that in and tack it up

"I Can, You Can, We Can, FOD CAN!" I love that slogan, But I think its a serious factor. Is there a way to put a wire mesh around the rotor blades so that when you walk into them you die? and not give the pilot TK? Aswell as so that you can't stunt fly through streets and the rotor blades go through buildings? Wasn't that on PR before where the tail rotor killed you and when you hit the main rotor on something the helicopter goes down?

Feuerwaffen, to reply to that statement. I searched that topic, and there was only one post about it from awhile back.

FFAR is Folding Fin Aerial Rocket.
The Apache and Cobra are capable of sustained sideways flight yet in-game this maneuver is impossible. It forces you to attack like an old Mi-24.
