Officer kit and smoke grenades

Post by Ragni<RangersPL> »

As we all know, SLs in PR 0.85 doesn't have standard (grey) smoke grenades anymore. This usefull tool has been removed , now we've got two signal grenades, green one and faction specific.

From the gameplay point of view it doesn't matter what color of smoke is used to mark extraction points etc. as long as it has other color then grey. Also, useing signal grenades in the same way as a standars ones can also be confusing for teammates.... not mention that sometimes hot zones look like a freakin rainbow ;)

So, my suggestion is:
OPTION A - add grey smoke grenades for officer kit

or, if there are no free weapon slots

OPTION B - replace one of the signal grenades with grey smoke grenades and leave only one (faction specific) signal grenade for the officer kit.

(personally I preffer option B)

Thoughs?

Completely agree, and I'd also go with B. (replace one of the signal grenades with grey smoke grenades)

Yes, it's a dead giveaway to the enemy that there's an Officer around (and hence usually an entire squad with him!) when one sees the green smoke.

I do like the faction specific (blue, purple, etc..) smoke. I use that a lot to mark buildings that I want the APC Squad to smash-into-tiny-little-bits so my infantry can then storm. =)

I like the way it is, but for the love of Cheo, can we *please* get rid of the rancid piss yellow smoke for the MEC? And a better one for the militia, too. Orange is :|

And how are my Battlefield rave parties supposed to take place without diffferent colours of smoke then...hmm? Why, I find it disturbing that you would try and conduct a party with GREY smoke -disgraceful!

Now onto the serious matter of smoke being used in an appropriate manner, I fully agree with B. One colour is fine if you want to mark something as you can use chat/VOIP to say what it's for. Plus throwing coloured smoke during a firefight not only looks daft but...

A-10 + Coloured smoke = *PEW PEW* + Ouch...

I definitely agree with B. I've been thinking about this during the games, too.

Either is good as long as the guy gets some grey smoke, I don't see the need for both either. It's be nice if the signal smoke went a little higher and thinner too.

Agreed

Grey + Faction Specific (As this only given to SL, not too much confusion)
