Toggle crouch

Post by nick20404 »

Seriously Idk why this hasn't been put in the damn game but my pinky finger has some serious carpel tunnel from crouching behind walls all day.

Or maybe the control map is too complicated?

Well I wasn't suggesting that it take over the regular crouch key i was just suggesting that there be a toggle crouch key at all if you wanted to use it or not that would be up to you, the reason why I say that is because when you play for along time reaching your pinky down and pressing that button starts to hurt my hand after a while, some times I just say fuck it and stand up or lay down completely.

I play on default settings and have no problems with holding crouch (left ctrl)...

(maybe because I've been playing on a guitar for a while so my left hand fingers are pretty flexible)

Maybe try to move crouch button to somewhere else no your keyboard

Ya thanks I never thought of that.

besides you would still have to keep your finger on the button and when you are guarding a fov and pressing crouch for 15+ minutes it gets aggravating.

Try remapping your keys.

I use 'w' for crouch.

P.S. You don't want to know where the rest of my keys are mapped, but lets just say almost EVERY one of them is different from the default; to avoid carpal tunnel syndrome; and to make it VERY easy to play for hours without ever moving ones hand.

(Put your fingers on Q W E R and SPACE.. see how nice that is? just a suggestion)

The only 2 places it would be convenient is left ctrl or C, unfortunately unbinding C makes it so zooming in tanks/helis is not possible. I use standard wasd controls so reconfiguring my whole control scheme isn't really in my interests, besides how hard would it be to add toggle crouch button as an alternative, some people have that problem and some people don't mind so it won't take away anything.

unbinding space would make jumping ****. I have even gone so far as to try and bind it to my mouse which didn't even work.

I have a MercStealth board and that is where my left hand sits, like QWER/Space but while the cntrl is better placed than on the real keayboard its a strain after a while.
I use the mousecord weight to auto-dig so I was thinking of getting something like that to lay on the cntrl key for long ambushes.
I found that the basic brass hose cap w/ 1/2" black plug weighs enough to keep a key down while being light enough to brush out of the way if victorcharlie comes calling.
I don't use that because I can auto-walk with chat in PR but it works for other games.

Some people like the default keys? :P Dev's and their crazy ideas for keybinds..

I would LOVE a toggle-crouch. Without toggle-crouch, it's like not having toggle-prone.
