Role-play it! If you want realism, go all the way!

Role-playing is a bit too geeky, however I'd like some enthusiasm from my squad.

Well i have to say i like the Roleplay which reminds me of my cadet time in the army :)
but i don't really mind if it's a casual group cause its in rare moments that they are casual in the middle of a fight as they usualy jumps up and starts to scream "ENEMY INCOMING"

I always make a casual voip squad I talk **** to my squad mates and if they get mad and leave f em, I like to have fun and do good when I play, besides I rather have any voip user than someone without any voip at all. being to serious or trying to act like your really in a war is kinda lame, its just a game after all.

oh i remeber one guy on kashan some 12 year old. he was driving and i was gunning. when we came across some tanks he would scream FIRE! like in WWII movies. then 5 seconds later he'd scream again FIRE! pissed me off and finaly i told him shut the fuck up i need to wait for it to reload

EDIT: I'll admit, sometimes role-playing can go to far, like when people need a realistic way to communicate certain inconvience:

Squad member 1: "The enemy has some kind of secret weapon, they're disrupting the flow of time!"
Squad member 2: "What?"
Squad member 1: "Time is flowing in irregular patterns, the world is become stagnant for prolonged periods, and its hindering my ability to fight effectively!"
Squad member 2: "....what?"
Squad member 3: "He's saying he's lagging."
Squad member 1: "Oh"

Sometimes a "realistic" explaination for problem you're encountering is just so stupid its better to admit you're playing a game, even if role-playing is fun.

LMAO!!!!!!!

sometime role-playing can be a bit much, as some military jargon is a bit esoteric, causing some squad members to be unable to understand what a guy is saying. i role-play a little, but when i play, i get totally into it, especially those moments when youre driving about and happen to stumble on a tank or worse, gunship.

If I'm squad leading and we all get wiped out the first thing I say after we all respawn and begin moving out is

"We having fun yet?"

Hum, this seems to be the place to blow off some steam.

I am truly and honestly sorry for this all you of the manly persuation who's "Spherical reproduction organs" hasn't descended yet, but when someone yells into my ears two or three octaves higher than I can manage myself I loose all focus and try to claw my headphones off.

Seriously, what are 10 year olds doing playing this game? Even here in the relaxed reaches of Sweden we have a "16+" rating on vBF2. Yes, I know you can't do anything about it but it really screws up my game and I usually end up switching squad, perhaps I feel bad for leading innocent children into battle, I don't know.

Rant rant, feedback?

It's all about volume control more than pitch and tone.
Even adults can drive you batsht if they can't control their volume but with no offense to the younger generation intended, a pre-pubescent voice screeching about the enemy will get me looking for another squad in a hurry.

I try to be vocal, but not in a chit chat way. I try to relay info. Be a part of the squad.

Thank people for healz/ammoz

And of course....make the due faction related comments when putting an enemy into the dirt.

i think its pretty natural to have a serious tone of voice and use more or less common military terminology as far as you can, but of course you can joke and mess around now and then.

(i voted on the first alternative, just to prova a point)

I like the chit chat in VOIP, as long as it's not during a critical time IE: During a firefight. Otherwise, Hell, I encourage the random talking like while defending a flag. Sometimes there can be no one around for half an hour or more and it gets boring just sitting there.

I always feel bad when there is that one guy who doesn't know when to stop chatting and you have to tell him, makes me wish for another radio channel sometimes.

You can always just tell him to shut up or boot him out the squad. Thats what i do anyway. Cause usually those players are not paying attention to game and i dont need them in my squad anyway.

LOL
I would have to think about that for a second.
But like "starlight required" you learn the lingo.
Do you think most people know what "hull-down" means or is that a term that should be simplified in game ?
