I always have it off its to arcade for me and it's always in the way of my target getting me Killed if i need to see the move marker a fast "M" will do the trick.

or clicking on the left-ALT would do the trick much better and faster. if someone is in my squad and doesnt use my markers with the 3d map i will kick him.

it has nothing to do with being new to PR. it is the most powerful tool an SL has, period. i sometimes mark multiple people in the span of 5-10 seconds (as guys are getting killed by my squad or if there's an enemy squad is spread over a certain area). using the map to check my marks during this time will not work. it's not quick enough. i spot EVERY enemy before i shoot at them so i expect my squad to have instant recognition of the mark.

i have been playing this mod a long long time and the SL marks are flat out the most important tool a squad has.

anyway...you can turn it on and off instantly with the left-ALT. it's many times quicker than pulling up the map and it's more accurate too. it seems weird to refuse to use that. i turn mine off as soon as i see the SL mark (flip it on in an instant when a new mark gets put down).

That's why there are tracer rounds but truly I am not trying to brag or anything but I will have most likely already killed him before you mark him I think the marker is just a un needed tool IRL you can't just mark a guy with an magic arrow.

I don't want a easy mode game you will die allot less when you use the map and not the 3D arrow with the map you will know every building every door way ally way.

I am most likely one of the most hardcore realistic players in game I turn off any un realistic help also turning off the 3D marker lessens the floating names on team mates.

Don't think for a secant that not using your 3D marker will make someone a less aware player once you train your self not to use it you won't understand why you ever used it before same go's with the mini map that got removed and spotting via cross com.

If you get shot in the leg do you also then force yourself not to run because that would be unrealistic?

I love that a mod like this force "realism" into the game, but at the same time you gotta remember that your controlling pixels with a mouse.... its not the real thing its a simulator.

I see the SL 3d marker as a nessasery help tool to compensate for the fact that you can't make your caracter point in the direction the enemy is...or watch your buddies eyes to see precisly where exactly he is looking.

ofcourse you could just shout in voip... i spotted an enemy at the 3rd building on the right behind that red car.....but if that was to be real since your nearest buddy is 100 meters away you would have to shout so that the whole neighbourhood heard you and thereby blowing your cower......what you can do is point in the direction (that would be the Observe 3d marker help) and then your buddies knew where to look.

Using the 3d tool is not unrealistic more than many other things in the game like.....why can you respawn on a rally marker after beein headshot? Don't tell me you force yourself not to respawn when you been killed once

Of course, while they are incredibly unrealistic and are unneeded HUD (even though some feel the opposite way when SLing), I still use it as it is in fact the most powerful tool the SL has. Why communicate cooridnates when you could simply have a magical marker pop on in your vision, rather than having to consult your map?

Sure, I use it, almost all the time (unless it gets in the way of a target, in which case I'll close it, and put it on after it's no longer obstructing my view). That doesn't mean I like it, though, just that I'd be at a huge disadvantage if I didn't.

as a squad leader it is VERY effective for me to place a marker on a enemy and say "enemy there" than any other means of explaining it to my squad mates, how ever effective coms are or skill level of my squad. the marker (how ever unrealistic) is there and like 'Threedroogs' said is one of, if not the most, effective tool a squad leader has. it has nothing to do with knowing the map , and knowing door ways ect at all really.

using map and marker are two different things completely.

Yea as a squad-leader I basically use it as Thompson and McLuv here. insert job here and put a marker on it to help the guys get there!
