Aiming?

Post by dumbcawk »

Seriously, something seems to be wrong. Its almost impossible to hit anything even in shorts distances with the rifles. The bullets go metres away from the aim. Sometimes when I see an enemy near me, I fire many times in the single mode (I perfectly aim at the enemy) but none of them seems to hit him, and he of course kills me with one shot. Is there any technic or just pure luck?

Welcome to the forums...

if the enemy killed you with one shot them there is no problem with the aim or the gun...is the shooter. What you need to do is crunch by the time you want to shoot an enemy (that works for me) the radius of deviation reduce significantly or by holding a couple of sec in long range shoots.

I hope this help you a bit

The 'technic' is basically staying still and waiting a few seconds before shooting.

You might be aiming perfectly but if you're moving and shooting rapidly you're likely to miss.

If it's room to room fighting you can still spray from the hip.

Does this apply to all weapons? Iron sight ones, too? I'm not used to the game yet.

I have a question about iron sights and bullet drop. Should we generally aim above the target if it's more than 500 metres out, or what?

PS. It's technique, not "technic"!

Yeah this is project reality, you cannot move around and shoot at the same time.
Crouch and wait a few seconds before shooting.

I don't know the stats, a developer or someone who's read more into it would be much better at answering that.

All I know is that staying still and waiting a few seconds pays off, for example I managed to kill someone who was running from 650metres away on a 350ping server with the sniper rifle (which I rarely use).

There's definitely bullet drop involved, but I can't personally say what distance it occurs at.

The bullet drop is pretty insignificant and starts happening as soon as the bullet is fired. The best thing to do is to boot up a local server on Kashan and test the various types of weapons on the sandbags at various ranges.

If you want to practise in a LAN game MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE to lock your in game FPS to 30, or the weapons and vehicles will behave WILDLY differently to how they do online.

I'm having this problem too. Even in prone or crouch, it takes me around 5 shots from maybe 2 meters away. Any tips on slightly longer range? I'm crouching, taking time, and all of that, but I fire a whole G3 clip, and i still don't hit my target (Was around 100 - 200 m away).

Crouch is much more accurate than standing
Prone a bit more than crouch
Dont move after you bring up your sights, hold for a few seconds, fire
Dont fire shot after shot after shot. Take time to realign your sights, lets our gun settle. The more you fire, and the faster, the more your bullets will deviate.

Someone an post the actual numbers, but most of it is playing with it and "learning a certain control"
Not to say you have no control, but the fact is, the weapons arent that bad that you shouldnt be able to hit something 100-200 Meters away with 20 rounds :\

[R-DEV]OkitaMakoto has the right idea.

if they are with in 5-60meters stop crouch pull up the iron/scope site count to 2 and fire you should be able to land the hit anything past 60m I would take the time to lay down and line the shot up.

The "should" that you will hear a lot on the forums are somewhat inaccurate. They all assume you aim dead center of mass, which you normally won't because you're not perfect.

As a general rule at distances 50 meters and over, prone is better than crouch, 50 to 5/10 crouch is best, and any closer when you can't deploy first, staying on the move, standing is best.

The next thing to take into account is that every time you move at all, your accuracy will pretty much reset to it's worst and you'll be waiting again. Most games these days encourage movement while shooting to a huge degree, and you probably won't even realise you're doing it as a result. Rebuilding the reflexes to do this without thinking takes a long time, and until you do, you will find yourself not shooting very well at all...

The final thing is that you should download, install and run bf2hitfixer. BF2 has, without a shadow of doubt, the WORST hitreg of any game in its generation.
