[IDEA] Independent Engineers (Firebase construction)

Post by Agent Parker »

I like building stuff. However I do not use VOIP and I am not that much of a squad player. Could we get a special "engineer" kit that can build FBs on their own? without having a SL around?
I play a lot on my own but I would still liek to have the opportunity for some strategic logistics.
I know it sounds unthinkable but I am a carebear AND lonewolf at the same time.

I'm sorry but the game was not made around you It was made around team players and squad members.

What if no squadleader appears to want to create a FB? Happens often on Mutrah. No FBs, Use get pushed off the harbor = round ends. Some lone players with startegic foresight could step in and grab an engi kit and fix the situation.currently it depends to much on squad cohesion (3 people for off kit, 1-2 shovelers needed).

why not leave the logisitics to one or 2 dedicated builders who would like to build a fb and defend it? there is a lot of unnecessary baggage connected to FBs
(Officer kits, unwilling squad mates who have to shovel).

Like this we can separate combat full squads from dedicated logistic players. There is already a niche for transport players who act on their own. so why not have a niche for non-combat builders?

If I care about having a good FB for my team you call this not being teamplay?

Yeah, and what would happen if one builds it at a strategically seen wrong spot?
That would mean, that when a squad that also has supplies, might not be able to build one in a better spot, since he's in the radius of that other FB. I can tell you already, that a lot of people will curse and ***** their asses off when they would found out. With the current system you reward team players, and give lonewolfs a disadvantage. Which is a good thing.

Combat Engineer + Rifleman does wonders + Logistics Truck = FB building team.

Not in the way you want to build it with only one guy defending it you will most likely lose it to a small assault and cost tickets.

What he said...

If you have the foresight to see that you will need a FB then why dont you just lead a squad? This game is built for teamplay not lone wolfing.

"I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

I agree with teh teamplay aspect, but alot of the time pubbing I find myself just going as an Engi, getting logistics down and then building FBs on my own or with another guy... Find this helps the flow of the game more, and their is nothing more ninja than a firebase behind enemy lines ;)

Yup like the rest have said just go SL and set up a build squad. You wont even have to squad-lead to people. If people join that dont want to build either kick-them out or dont say anything to them.

At least this way you can built bases. If theres a commander he can even direct you (while a non-squad leader builder builds pretty much where he wants to.)

Get a Demolitions Expert (Or.. something along the lines of that) kit, lets you build everything the officer can. But I'm pretty sure you still need 3 people in the squad. All you have to do is create a squad called "Logistics" or something like that, and your on your way. When people start joining, just text (in squad chat!) telling them that you don't have a mic and your mainly going to be building firebases and such.

Combat Engineer needs two.

Join a squad, request Combat Engineer, leave squad, make own squad.

You'll have a problem on most servers though, with a one person locked squad, so you should choose a name that really, really repels anyone wanting to join.
