Re: The Chinook
well seeing as the rotors are turning whilst someone is in the pilot seat it should be find until the pilot vacates the aircraft.

ie, what I said but the main question is, is it standard with every chinook?[R-DEV]Masaq wrote:So no, you can't land on water and switch off its engines, nip to the pub and come back and find your Chinook still tethered to the end of the jetty - it's not a seaplane or flying boat... but it is buoyant enough to put down on water with the engines running![]()

Re: The Chinook
they all float with engines running but a specail version allows the engines off and floating.

Re: The Chinook
but it will float with the engines running so having the model float (whilst there is a flight crew present) is a locical solution.

no you said "but a specail version allows the engines off and floating." and that's the bit I'm asking where it says that.'[R-DEV wrote:Hitperson;977232']but it will float with the engines running so having the model float (whilst there is a flight crew present) is a locical solution.

That video was awesome!
They drove a boat, into a helicopter, how many times do you get to see something like that outside of a Bond movie? XD

Yeah, those two long oval 'pods' are on every single chinook - they're integral to the design, as is the sealed underbay.[R-DEV]Rhino wrote:ie, what I said but the main question is, is it standard with every chinook?

Re: The Chinook
"RAF Chinooks have also served in Operation Granby (Gulf War, 1991), large peace-keeping commitments in the Balkans, the evacuation of Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Operation Telic (Iraq 2003-), and the evacuation from Lebanon. They also provided routine support to the British military, particularly in Operation Banner in Northern Ireland. Since early 2006 seven Chinooks have been deployed to Kandahar in Southern Afghanistan in support of Operation Herrick. At any time at least two aircraft are forward-based at Camp Bastion
In July 2006, 3 Chinook helicopters of No. 27 Squadron deployed to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus to evacuate British citizens from Lebanon. The squadron also flew the EU foreign affairs representative Javier Solana to Beirut at the start of the crisis."
This is all I found about the number of Chinooks in Afghanistan. I have not been able to find any news reports etc about them shipping out more.

Re: The Chinook
cool well may look at getting the Chinook to be able to slightly dip into the water more than other choppers if we can get it so it simply dont float but ye, have to see.
if we dont having it able to dip into the water isn't going to really change anything about it game play wise, not really much you can do with dipping into water apart from picking people up, if you want to do a water drop you can do it with any chopper, just hover over the water and have everyone jump out

Re: The Chinook
You should also get the ability to row the chopper back to the carrier for repairs if it gets shot down over water
