I think the AA-11 is the short range Air to Air missile and the AA-12 is the long range Air to Air missile.

Aim-9 Sidewinder is a Short Range, Heatseeker, and finds it's target, and explodes, sending razors that buzzsaw through the enemy aircraft.
Aim-120 RAMROD is a long range radar guided missile,
Basiclly, all missiles are either SHORT range, or LONG range, no difference.( IN PR STANDARDS

Re: Missiles and explosive for Jets
AGM-65 is the maverick a laser guided A2G missile.
AIM120 is the AMRAAM (Advanced medium range air to air missile) as oposed to the ASRAAM (advanced short range air to air missle) and ALRAAM (advanced long range air to air missile)
The MK82 is a Gravity bomb often combined with the JDAM guidance package which allows for laser and GPS INS guidance of the ordinace rather than being a simple "iron bomb"
not sure on the others as i don't have my literature with me at uni.
(GSH sounds like it might be a cannon though)

Re: Missiles and explosive for Jets
Since most of the others have been answered:
GsH-30-1 is the cannon mounted on the MiG-29 and Su-27. It fires 30 x 165mm rounds, the same kind fired by the automatic cannons on the BMP-2, BMP-3 and Mi-28. Has a single barrel and a very high rate of fire, up to 1800 rpm, but usually governed to 1500 rpm.
S-8 are 80mm unguided rockets used on the Mi-28.
As for rockets, the rockets used on US aircraft are 70mm (2.75 inch) Hydra. The rockets used on the Su-25 are S-5 57mm rockets.
I think instead of AiS you mean the AS-10 "Karen" air to surface missile on the Su-25; it's a laser-guided AGM, similar to the Maverick.

AiM-9 short range heat seeking Air to Air missile
Aim-120 is long (edit: medium!) range fire and forget Air to Air missile
(From my Falcon 4.0 days!)

Re: Missiles and explosive for Jets
I'm very confused about the gunner posistion in the SU-34 and the tornado to a lesser extent.
initially I thought the SU-34 had a set of Air to Ground missiles in LG and LT mode and some bombs, also with LT and LG. However when in the gunner seat it shows 4 weapons to the right (like in vBF2 jets) where 3 are different and 2 are dublicates (The akm missile). Also when you look through the guncams on each of the different weapons, they're all showing LG and all of them show 0 ammo.
??:
If anyone could clarify how they work (and how you normally would use each one) that would be very great.
PS. I was looking for the official guide/wiki that everyone talks about, but when I click the guide button I'm asked to type a password, and I cant seem to find a wiki anywhere O_o.

Re: Missiles and explosive for Jets
for those interested, the AIM 134 ASRAAM is a british weapon (somthing we are mounting on the EF2000)
RAF - ASRAAM
(the ASRAAM is also a "hitile" meaning it is designed to explode on contact with the target rather than the traditional detonating near the target to shred it)
MBDA ASRAAM (AIM-132)

Re: Missiles and explosive for Jets
So in PR the aim-9 should be better than the aim-120 since it is short range (all combat in pr is in short range) and therefore smaller and more manouverable?

AMRAAMs can be radar guided. Right?

Re: Missiles and explosive for Jets
AIM-65 Maverick, optical, infra red or laser guided air to ground missile, used against "soft" buildings and armoured vehicles - it's a tank killer, basically.hug258 wrote:HI everyone... I need some one who know all the kinds of missiles, what they are use for.

AIM-9 Sidewinder, short-range air to air missile used against aircraft. Infrared (heat-seeker).
Rockets - 72mm and 80mm are most common, unguided muntions with either high explosive or fletchette ends - most often used against soft targets like infantry or light-armoured vehicles.
Mk82 - 500lb "iron" bomb - an unguided, free-fall bomb. mk83 is the 1,000lb version, the 84 is a 2,000lb version. They can have a Paveway II guideance package attached to make them laser-guided - then they're designated GBU-12, -16 and -10 respectively.
AIS-10 I have no idea about.
AA-11 is the R-73 "Archer" short-range IR air to air missile - the Russian equivilant of the AIM-9.
AA-12 is the R-77 "Adder" medium-range active-radar guided missile; the Russian equivilant of the AIM-120 AMRAAM.
S-8 is an unguided air to ground rocket; it's an 80mm-diameter rocket with a variety of warhead types available.
AIM-120 is the AMRAAM - Advanced Medium Range Air to Air Missile; the standard US/NATO missile. Active-radar guided, although can be fired in passive/semi-active modes also. Can be used out to Beyond Visual Range (BVR).
Gsh-30-1 is the 30mm cannon you'll find on most Russian-built combat aircraft built after the early 1980s. It's not a gatling/revolving type, it's single-barrel, which means it has a slower rate of fire (but is lighter). It's supposed to be highly accurate - as few as 2,000 rounds through it then degrade the barrel sufficiently to require its replacement.
Hope that's enough info for you.
EDIT: Balls, that'll teach me not to bother reading a thread before posting. Already covered several times over lol.
