Anywho, I've noticed that too. Plus the squadleader's 9 symbol isn't there (Left-alt isn't the problem here ;P)
Bf2 Tends to screw up and put the wrong icon up sometimes, or forget completely.
You sure its not just bf2 failing?

Squad 7's leader also has a problem knowing what he really is. In vanilla, their little number icon is absent. Instead, it's a parachute symbol. I couldn't seem to find this parachute icon on any PR SLs in my time playing however.

This leads me to assume perhaps certain squad numbers were assigned for certain tasks, like parachuting or what not. Or they're just small mistakes on Dice's part. :p

By trying too hard, we put ourselves at a greater risk. Don’t you think so?

but I have just started using VOIP and when i hold down the transmit button to talk the icon on the right of the screen goes green and then when I talk it goes red.......it seems people can still hear me in the game?!(i hope)...but does anyone have any idea why it goes read when i talk?
It's when your talking too loud. if it's green, they can hear you.

Perhaps a remnant of an old gameplay direction they took and decided to can. Theres usually tons of stuff from a game's development left in the code that never sees the light of day in a game til someone roots it out.

I imagine them making BF2 way more organized and strategic and such until the publisher's crushed that non-market-viable dream.
