Seriously, you could play on full settings for like £40 at most.
I guess if you consider 30 FPS smooth then yes. My game gets choppy under 60 FPS and I get these horizontal ripples running up my screen from time to time.

Turn Vsync on then, that will probably make it much smoother, or seem much smoother.

I know, but I'd have to be getting 60FPS all the time in every map for VSYNC to be smooth and that's not going to happen in Muttrah, Korengal, Ramiel or Fallujah. Turning down settings doesn't help either.

Solution=i7, 6gb DDR3 RAM, 64-bit OS, fast GPU.

I play on medium, not that much difference to high. The grafik engine of BF2 has never been anything fancy.

Yea mine lags like crazy as well, maps like fools road, bi ming, any map thats fairly big and detailed for that matter. Also if i get a grenade thrown near me or I get suppressed I have to wait 20 secs before i can play again

I used to play on low on my laptop and omg it was horrible sometimes, especially when I lagged even though I had my settings down.

However I now have a new pc and can play it all on high and its just beautiful PR really does push the BF2 engine to its limits and makes it a really enjoyable experience. I would really recommend upgrading if you are playing on low, it is worth it 100%

The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end... "

I play everything on max, cause I bought a new computer recently, and I'm not going to let it go to waste.

More screen shots comparing high vs. low settings. I posted Muttrah screen shots on pg. 5 of this thread as well.

What you need to make PR run well is lots of ram (2gb min) and a FAST Hard drive (Or 2 drives is a RAID 0 array). As long as you get that sorted You can play all high 8xAA on a 6600GT and keep a 80+ fps. I Know this to be true as I Use to have just that.

RAM + FAST HDD + 6600GT = PR Heaven

Here is my current system

I made a image using 1920*1200 that i normally play with high setting and then with 800*600 with all low.
800*600 is stretched to 1920*1200 as it is my computer native resolution, so that is what i would see)
Funny thing is that with 800*600 and i would wider view zoom if i wanted to.
