Don't be a n00bz0rd L0L3RZ!

Post by RikiRude »

Here are some tips for new players and vet players alike, I want to make a list that will help give tips to everyone.

-If you plan on driving an APC or tank PLEASE go eng, so you can repair it, if you are going to have a gunner have them go assualt so they can rearm you (i think if they throw down and ammo bag it resupplies, but commander box of supplies doesnt)

-When you get hit (in a vehicles), even just once, if possible, drop smoke or take refuge and repair then proceed

-When you are a medic and someone goes down near you, drop smoke wait for it to go off, then revive, you got 25 seconds to revive them, there is no rush

-have someone in your squad provide covering fire or eliminate the threat before you revive

-figure out the weak spots on the tanks and APCs and learn to hit those weak spots!

-remember, the black hawk is big!! fly high and stay tilted so you are mostly out of harms way and speak with your gunner so he can hit any threats below

-3 SLAMS (or timed C-4) does maybe 1/4 damage to tanks... so you shouldn't bother unless you tag team that sucker!

-when laying mines and claymores let your team know where they are!

-ALWAYS check the AAS order if you dont see the flag changing!!! I don't know how many times I've found myself yelling at other squads that are at the incorrect flag!

-Remember when you are AT you have binocs, use them! this is your only other advantage besides your AT rocket, you can tell your team where enemies are running off to and they will kill them for you

- its always a good idea to have one squad defending and another attacking, you never know when they enemy will pop up on your six and take one of your flags

-don't bother with the SLAMs (timed C-4) on bridges, the engs C-4 will take it out like cake

-always keep your humvees and SUV in the convoy close, but not too close, i'd say about 10 meters between the vehicles so if the front vehicles is taken out, precautions can be taken

-ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS use a convoy in extraction! its more fun for both teams, dont just take the SUV and haul *** on some random route! it looks/feels cool when you are in a convoy simple as that!

-you dont need 7 engs when doing convoy but id say have at least 3! one dedicated to the SUV, one to the little bird and one extra just in case

That's all I can think of for now, i hope all vet players come on here and post their thoughts and ideas!

Tanks have weak spots? Cool...

Anyway, good suggestions. But what would be the best way of letting your team know where you lay mines? I've experienced that alot of people don't pay attention to the VoIP, or notcie when you type something. Not alot else you can do...

I also find that smoke tends to draw the attention of the enemy when you try to revive someone, and they will know where the corpse you're trying to revive is, even if they can't see it, so they can fire blindly at that spot. I guess covering fire is the way to go...

so toss a couple of smokes, one kinda away from the wounded guy but still between you and the attacker, and if need be another on the wounded guy

another thing I'd like to add is: LOOK AT THE DAMNED TEXT MESSAGES! not all of us have mics (well I do, I just never use bf2's builtin voip), and it's not vBF2, its PR, so you NEED the teamwork you can get outta using any kind of communications with your team, even if its just text chat!

To add some

-When throwing out Ammo supply bags throw em out on places with some cover cuz it takes like 9sec or more to resupply.

-If your wounded and want treatment from a medic seek cover and wait.
-When revived seek cover and wait for the medic to heal you to 100% health

-Want to play defensive pick the support class but try to get a mate to pick the assult class so he can be your cover and ammo supplyer.

-If your squad medics is down pick up his kit and revive him and your fellow comrads if that needs to be done.

-If your in a squad using voip try not spaming the voip with useless info try to keep it short and understandeble, repeat if needed.

-If your squad leader and the team have a commander dont forget to call in artillery and supplys when that is needed.

-If your the gunner of a boat/Jeep and see a Blackhawk or a tank try to avoid shooting, cuz your no match vs these and will just tell em "Hey im over here kill me"

Hmm... my 1 cent :

Medics, please revive people. I have died a countless number of times because medics wont revive me.

For god's sake, READ THE MANUAL! Stop putting SLAM on tanks, you'll blow urself up.

If you are a sniper, don't hang back. Nothing is stopping you from moving up and nailing enemies.

Don't fly the helis IF YOU CAN'T. HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS??

Slow down to LET PEOPLE BAIL OUT. Don't make em bail at high speed. And if you are actually stupid enough to approach an uncappable flag, or an area with tonnes of antitank fire, tell your people to BAIL before you get there, or you get them all killed.

Support troopers, you have a big gun for a reason. Don't be afraid to go agro.

To the turret hogs, please bear in mind there are those tiny boxes in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. This is your ammo counter. YES, YOUR TURRET HAS AMMO *gasps*

I think thats a few of mine.

- Jihad Jeeps don't work because you won't get away from the Engineer's C4 in time and the SLAMs will blow you up on your way to the target

Snipers

- Snipers should never been seen. Staying hidden mean's your doing your job half right. If you want to be a successfull sniper, find a good spot thats covered with some sort of over growth etc, is out the way of the main battle, is close to freindly territory and is in a position where you are able to see the main fight clearly.

- When using a sniper rifle, specificly the M24, stay prone, try not to move about to much and conserve ammo. Wait till you have a clear shot that you know you can make. Make sure you adjust for any bullet drop and dont rush. Remember, the longer you've been prone and have waited, the better your accuracy is going to be.

- Try and work as a team when using a sniper kit. Idealy, be playing with a friend/clan member who know's how to be a sniper, then work together over VOIP or any other voice application. Having two snipers mean's you can identify multiple targets at once, and possibly even spot for each other.

- Try to shoot and scoot. Staying in one spot for a while mean's that at some point, an enemy sniper is going to find you and zero you in. As a rule, never stay in the same spot for more than 2 mag's worth of shot's,5 kills or 5 minutes. When re-locating, first fall back, out of sight, then locate a new position. Don't run as fast as possible into your new position. SLowly advance onto it. Making sure it's clear. When your a little closer to it, crawl up and position your self.

- The big thing to remember when being a sniper is simple, the human eye is very adept at picking out movement. So if your running around, your dead. Stay prone when possible and practical.

I've found that on extraction maps, it's good to have the little bird drop off a squad on/near the extract point, as an advance team. Holding it, making sure they don't deploy mines in the area, and clearing it if need be.

Also, if you're a squad leader, call for arty and supplies. I have been commander a handful of times and would go the whole game saying, "Squad leaders, call arty" and they never would.

Yes this thread is going well!

-grenade areas that you know will be infested before entering.

-since you cant throw nades in succession quickly, talk to you squaddys and tell tehm all to get their frags ready toss them in at the sametime then go in after they have exploded (like i needed to tell you that part =P )

-someone said this before, but i want to emphasize! always check the text chat every now and then, blue and green writing ALWAYS read

Always remeber when you are standing up you are an easy target so crouch or crawl or run never stand still in the open you will die.
Always look at the squad you are joining kits and try to select one that will enhance your squad or will give a kit your squad doesn't have.

-Do what the admins tell you;
Especially in PRMM admins are often more experienced, if they tell you to follow the AAS órder, they will propably be right!

-AAS Order for Steelthunder(most players seem NOT to know it!)
USMC: Dam(n) outpost -Village- Bridge Checkpoint-Powerplant- Storage depot- Armour Division!

China: Just the other way around^^

-Antitank: Make sure you got an Assault near you, 3 missiles aren`t too much
Do not try to hit infantry with the missile...it works, but you might need the missile for a tank. So if you see enemy troops, let your teammates kill them!

-do not use vehicles as improved stationary guns...they are for moving units not for camping the enemy!

-don`t bother leaving your tank alone...the enemy can not steal it;
Never forget: Your teammates can do so...!

-use VOIP!!!

-STAY WITH YOUR SQUAD LEADER, STAY WITH YOUR SQUAD LEADER, STAY WITH YOUR SQUAD LEADER! ALSO, WAIT FOR HIM TO SPAWN SO THE SQUAD CAN STAY TOGETHER! Six people in different parts of the map sharing a common mobile spawn point is NOT a squad.

-If you're going to be revived, learn to orient yourself, and get the hell out of harms way. Too often I waste one or more of my (limited) shock paddle charges on some idiot who lies down or tries to slowly crawl to cover while they're still being shot at, and ends up dying again! So, When you're revived, get the hell up, know where you're facing, and then immediately run to the cover the medic exposed himself from to revive you.

-Also, if you complain about not being revived, you're probably not sticking with your squad. Your survival in a good squad is always longer, with people to revive you, cover you, and cover the person reviving you. Likewise, if you're not getting revived, there's a good chance that there is a shortage of medics on your team, so, be one yourself.

-When on a flanking mission, DO NOT open fire the first second you see the enemy. Your surprise flank will be a lot better if you let yourself get closer and really give them hell. You worked for that flank, so are you going to force yourself into a long ranged firefight, or are you going to get close and massacre them?!

-Use transports and their .50s to your advantage. Don't drive into the middle of a hot intersection, because it's both a bad place to set up and a bad place to unload troops.

-When dropping troops with a transport Helicopter, make sure the Landing Zone is secure. If you're being shot at, you're not in a good LZ. There is confusion and always disorientation when everybody first gets out, so it's best that you do that behind a building or behind cover.

-All troops, SAW gunners especially, should be firing from the side of the Littlebird. You're exposed horribly there (With a rifle, yesterday, I systematically shot 3 guys off the side of a Littlebird that was hovering), but, believe it or not, you can actually do considerable damage. I've definitely, along with my squad, been taken out from soldiers on the side of a Littlebird, so don't underestimate the damage you can do from up there.

-IMPORTANT AND VALUABLE FOR EVERYBODY: Be ready to take cover when you are being shot at. It often takes less than 1 second after someone has opened up on you (even with a rifle or carbine) for you to die. I notice that with most of the kills I make, this is usually the case, because even if it takes three quick shots, the target doesn't have the reflexes to move while I'm shooting him. When you take ONE hit, immediately hit the 'sprint' key or the 'dive' key and get in cover.

everything looks good on paper, but once it's implemented, it usually turns to shit pretty quickly. No plan ever survives first contact.

Agreed with that. But dang, it's better to have a plan. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. :D Aint that right Mav.
