Suggestion for jets
My suggestion is that when you lock on to something it tells you in the **** pit what speed its going, what altitude, and distance

Oh, i get it.
Additional information about the target would be displayed on the HUD, such as distance to target etc.
Yeah, why not. But Im not sure if the bf2 engine can do it all.

Like mogngolian said that would be awesome but I don't think the BF2 engine could handle something like this but who knows.

Re: Suggestion for jets
Isn't distance to target displayed for certain AAVs, like the Avenger, or have i just made that up?

Re: Suggestion for jets
I'm sure this is plenty doable.
range would be the hardest to implement, but for speed, altitude, just use a 'window' that displays whats on the target jets HUD.
at least those two are probably the two most valuable bits to know.

Ya as far as I know some vehicles can display the distance of the target being aimed at with your cross hairs, also I think the soflams do this or used to, Never really used the feature much tbh.IAJTHOMAS wrote:Isn't distance to target displayed for certain AAVs, like the Avenger, or have i just made that up?
But this would be purely visual and would probably have no practical use, but I guess it would be a cool feature to make things more realistic.

Not even in the cross hair, but IIRC, you could have distance displayed under the heat box.

AA's can do it. And it's pretty useful in a dogfight too. You can use it to tell if they're using afterburners or not.

Re: Suggestion for jets
Remember the range is only there when locking on.
Before I would have said not possible, but I did find a set of variables with which it might somehow work.

Re: Suggestion for jets
Some people have said this wouldnt be particularly useful.
here is my reason for why it would be.

- dogfights. the jet trailing the other jet can see if they're in missile range, and what speed they need to be at to maintain range or to close in, etc. very valuable to the trailing pilot.
