Boats to Barracuda

Post by sentinel »

The Infamous Map that everybody wants to play on PLA side, Barracuda. I just love being stuck on the carrier when noobs do the flying. One round the US side lost 70 tickets in less than ten minutes. So please for the love of god, give the USMC some alternative ways to get to shore, even two boats would be fine. Also it would give Barracuda that "Invasion of Normandy" feeling that it lacks.

You can always fly the chopper yourself. But yea it would be nice with a couple of boats.

barracuda 16 layer = boats - i.e. chi strategy is to hold the beaches

barracuda 64 layer = helocopters - i.e. chi strategy is to hold flags and control airspace

I kinda like this layout since it gives a clear strategic choice.

if any water vehicle would be added to 64 it should be a LAV or two (swap a cas huey for it I guess) (Chi could get their new APC with 50cal instead of so many trucks)

Sounds good to me. All those tank traps on the beach and cool bunkers, but no armored invasion units...

I miss the Amphibious Assault Vehicle AAV7 on this map. This would be so epic to have it here.

Sounds like an idiot problem and not a game problem. PR team can't fix how idiots play.

Ohyea. No boats on the 64 version. I think its fun on both sides. The problem is: Pilots want to take people everywhere they say they need taken to, just to prove they are good pilots it seems. Had a game on [T&T] tonight of Barracude where we attack rock-fort and huey's just came in dropping troops on our side of the beach. Lat here, AR there, threw the occasional AA in and you get the picture. Same as one of the CAS huey's. We had an AA up, he attacked it, destroyed it, we built it, he attacked it from the same angle again, destroyed it, we built it, third time he came up from that same angle he got nailed.

Its just that lots of people love getting hot-airdrops it seems, but than also complain when they run out of choppers. The few times I was flying I just denied people some flights because I was not going to risk my chopper. Didnt get downed once.

And its actually fun to play as chinese I think. Putting AA up, waiting for chopper, relocating it once its down to mess up the attack huey's. Good fun. When the US are down and attacking you it gets even better.

the chopper is the chopper pilot's responsibility, thus he should always overrule a bad LZ.

The LZ choosing process is often aided by mumble :) (see. sig)

this seems to sum it up swimming never had to do it but i appreciate the suckingness and reality of it happening, why not add one boat or LAV for anti-noob flip off deck emergencys?

otherwise i never had a problemo ppl are certainly getting better, as the mod ages

I won many times with usmc on barracuda but thats because my team did not have a lemmings mentality. I greatly dislike that 2 flags are game now right off the bat, dumbing it down for the usmc. I just imagine some people here being in charge of the allies against the germans. ZOMG their tanks are one hit kills and our weapons deviate so much more and their machineguns are so great, no fair O.o .

Cassius, do you mean you would only like 1 flag in the game or even 3? I think the 2 flags (or maybe 3) are needed to delude the enemy troops. If there was only 1 flag imagine the army defending it.

And than something I just thought of yesterday, lets get squad-leaders to use different LZ's as well. When they got taken down on one, lets not try and land there again ;)

It's not a problem of the map but of the players playing on it. But a LAV would be nice and give the map some new tactical decisions where do I go on land Whit my LAV How can I use it best.

one problem with boats: They are an invitation for some people to just jump into and go solo leaving a full squad behind

and 99% of the time the boat won't be returned so after 5-6 people take out boats maybe 1 or 2 will come back if they are killed. Get better chopper pilots problem solved, the biggest problem on carrier maps are the group of idiots who like to show off and hover around the deck leading to collisions and lost choppers. If you get past all that and if the admins are handling things than everything runs smooth. There is enough hueys to go around most time they are just sitting on deck waiting for people to transport, along with using the attk hueys to clear landing zones its not hard to keep them up at all.

Boats wouldn't make much of a difference but as long as they don't cost tickets I wouldn't care either way. Same with muttrah wouldn't make a difference if the boats were removed from that map.

On Muttrah i think they decay after 5 minutes if no one has been in them for a while
