[Question] Insurgency Guns

Post by Rollonio »

Has anyone done or seen a comparison of all the insurgency ironsights weapons?
Are all the AKs pretty much the same and if not what are the differences?

is the issue with the V - notch AK74 and "square-cut" AK47? i dont really get it myself (if that is the issue)

mh the ak 47 fires the 7.62x39mm round, the ak 74 the 5.45x39mm but i dont think that this difference matters. but i don't really know what you mean xD

Short story:
AK-47: low range/accuracy, high damage
AK-74: Higher range/accuracy, lower damage.

thats sums it up right there.

im personally really glad they included both AKs. they both have a place, for example i like to use the 47 if i know im gonna be fighting pretty close {like in buildings} as im more likely to kill the target with 1 bullet and the higher deviation wont matter much in such close confinements. the 74 i basically use for the opposite situation. if i know im going to be engaging at a further range, then the 74s better accuracy helps alot. it just may take more rounds to down the target since its a smaller round.

as for the sights, the 2 guns have different sights in real life, hence why they have different sights in game.

i haven't really noticed any worse accuracy on semi with the ak47 compared to the ak74. world of difference on auto, though. and again, the damage.

From what I've heard, every assault rifles in-game have the same deviation, meaning that a AK47 or AK74U is as accurate as a G3 or a M16.
That would be :
AK47 : Higher damages/loose more velocity (damage) with distance/higher recoil
AK74 : Lower damages/higher round velocity/lower recoil

source? {about all weapons having the same deviation} because im not sure if thats true. not calling you a liar, just sounds like the opposite of what ive been hearing.

Not all weapons, only assault rifles. SMG, pistols, DMR and LMG using different deviation.
I can't find a DEV's word about this but it looks that a guy checked the raw data in the PR files :

ok so according to that chart the 2 AKs have the same deviation, however like i said earlier the 47 has more stopping power, and much higher recoil and that affects accuracy alot. im kinda surprised all the guns have the same deviation i wonder why the devs made them that way

Er, I'm fairly certain that means the deviation from moving/shooting. Meaning the "5 seconds after wasd, 2 seconds after shooting" deviation.

Well, I just took a look on the values (Battlefield 2\mods\pr\objects\objects_server.zip ; Weapons/Handheld ; look for the .tweak file) for AK47, AKS74-U, G3 ironsight and L85A2 SUSAT and they have all the same deviation stuff, here are all the lines involved

Code: Select all

ObjectTemplate.createComponent SoldierDeviationComp
ObjectTemplate.deviation.minDev .333
ObjectTemplate.deviation.setFireDev 1.4 .7 .023
ObjectTemplate.deviation.setTurnDev 2 .15 .15 .05
ObjectTemplate.deviation.setSpeedDev 3 1 1 .02
ObjectTemplate.deviation.setMiscDev 5 5 .05
ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModStand 1.5
ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModCrouch 1.0
ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModLie 0.9
ObjectTemplate.deviation.devModZoom .3
Recoil, rate of fire, etc... are different but the deviation (lines above) have always the same values (I don't know what they all mean though).

I use AK47 in city/building maps and the AK74 in more rural maps.

According to the chart, no wonder why insurgents always win close range. 42 damage.. O_o

in RL, basicially most guns are as accurate as their shooter, and PR devs have this nastly habit of making things in the game...realistic
