Yeah but in the time it takes you paint it you might as well just fire a missile anyway, and kill it before it starts moving and you get noticed. Even if it starts moving a good gunner can hit it.

There's only one place in which I would paint a target in an attack chopper. When I'm flying in another one, and I'm 500-700 feet above them. And only since they are my only feasible threat that high in the air, they aren't a threat since they're below me, and since if I miss they'd hear the missile go by and flee.

But even then, you don't need to do it, only if you're not comfortable you'd hit them.

What he said^^^^. One tactic which you could try is if you hover pretty much on one side of the map and have a spotter mark INF with attack markers then just fire at the numbers, I have only done this once as the SL i had was very adamant that we do it, it was fairly boring But when the kills started stacking up and a guy on the other team who was also on Xfire was constantly telling me to show ourselves so they got a chance.

That is one tactic that if boring and in some cases unneccecary, but it works

I prefer McLuvs way though
