i mean to use it as a INFANTRY weapon. like some poor guy legging a 12kg weapon with him. with an entirely new model. But please not like arma where you hold it like its 2 kgs. like on slot 3 (where normal weapons are at the hip) you carry it on a sling aross ur body or by the handle and if u right click, it moves it to the hip rambo style. u can fire it, but heck load of recoil -but managble- to fully use it, u must select the deployed version (like the current SAWs) and works just like the saw. except alot more firepower and damage to make up for carrying it like that. so that people WANT to use it.
even better, create a whole new class like heavy machine gunner or just machine gunner (m249 is LMG or squad auto weapon, while M240 could be like team support weapon so limit it like sniper kit). ANd this will also help with the ammo bags. the "240 class" could say, only carry alittle ammo like 100/200 rounds then has to rely on his team mates which is exactly like in RL.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
