Unable to set markers

I have no clue if this has always been the case, but on some maps.... (Kashan for example)..I'm unable to set markers over high distances.

When I'm in the south bunker for example, and I see something on the NE hill (over 500m), I can't set a marker on it with the commo-rose.

u gotta make sure you're standing up and it would be best to zoom in with something then try to set a marker. i have markers place with T over 800m

vanilla bug, killer2354 demonstrates a workaround, but yes it can be prety frustrating, and shows a limitation of the BF2 engine (they never intended BF2 to have 1km view distance or 4km maps for that matter )
