Squad leading or babysitting?

I have Lead squads in the past with mixed results, but today on Kozeleck (I forgot how to spell it) was something different. I started off the round alone in my INF VOIP squad, thinking "I'm going to lead a squad!!" How foolish of me! I started off trying to build an FB in position to attack the first chechen flag. Nobody else was building, so why not us? WRONG!
NOTE: My memory is bad I don't remember what everyone said exactly.

First noob: "OMG why are we building a firebase! WE HAVE RALLY POINTS!!!"

Second noob: "OMG!!! Why are you putting up wire, we are bleeding tickets we have to go!" (Kozeleck has no bleed no the first flag, and we had 380 tickets..)

Shortly afterward we get attacked:
The wave of screaming, bitching, and crying, shames a children's daycare.
We repell the chechens and I ask the squad to build up the FB. After some confusion because my squad cries at every order:

Third noob: "Squad leader you have no idea what your doing, I'm going to attack" * I kick*

The day has just begun my friends! Is it just me, or is squad leading becoming babysitting? Every time I put a marker down for a rally, I get useless people running around doing what will make them get more kills. I feel like a mom yelling at her kids, except in PR I can't beat them because it's just a game It has become so bad that people personally insult me, because they aren't getting 1337 kills.
Now there are those who will say that you need a good team. Even on a good team my orders don't get followed to the degree that they should be. Everyone seems obsessed with getting kills, and not working for the team or objective.
However with time, all the noobs left for the most part and I got a decent squad, and the game turned out to be ok. However even for them, my orders are excepted reluctantly, people break off to their own instinct to get kills, and people just ignore me. I can't kick everyone, or I won't have a squad!
Can someone help me out? Or am I doing something wrong?
I'm not being too uptight or doing something suicidal! I just asked them to hold on the an area in the flag!
I see this more and more on every server, people want to go off an get kills... This all happened on a very popular server, that stresses teamwork.

I find certain squad names avoid vtards.
examples of squad names that scare off vtards:

etc Most Vtards are homophobes so they will avoid these squads at all costs. Ask DemosLocke who was (I think) Kick from a server for Taking an APC out side of the MANSEXAPC squad. Even though he was warned to return it or join the squad- he refused to do so due to issues about the name

Remove the kill counter as suggested here:

And whenever you give and order, just act as all your squadmembers are dogs, or stupid humans that needs to be dealt with iron fist. Be hard, dont let them voice their oppinion unless you ask for it.

And dont be sad if your squad ******* at you, dont let it get to your face, just be cool.
And keep up the squadleading, we need good squadleaders, so hang in there! And teach the vanilla noobs to follow orders.

Removing the kill counter would solve nothing. You can't just keep modifying the game like that because some ppl are smacktards. Remember, players are hardcoded

That's the thing, many players out there will only want constant action with little or no pace. Actually stopping and setting up defences will just seem like a foreign idea to them.

Thats why i hate infatry in public servers, you get people who just dont listen. But i do hate when you get the power hungry SL, when they order your whole squad to do some cloak and dagger assault on an enemy uncap when we are depseratley needed to help capture the attackable one, you voice your opinion that this could be a ticket costly move and they just moan at you for it.

Popularity of the mod has its minuses... I personaly find it difficult to catch the same people once and again if I had a good round with them. Especially if they have hard to remember names
I see myself as quite good squad leader, although I'm not rough and shouting. Recently dough I almost hate squad leading. You shouting fall back, they rush foward, you shout flank them, they stay on position, you shout 'group here', they spread even more. After that you hear "where is rally!", "sql put a new rally!", "you suck sql" etc. I see it myself beeing just a member of sq as stick to every order, sometimes suggest better solution if you think of any or leave and find better squad. People recently like to ***** about everything to sql.

They hear an order and follow some mutated version of it. What pisses me off is that I can never get my squad to move together, that is the simplest thing I can ask! Then they ***** OMG RALLY POINT!!!! Haha the only thing that keeps lone wolfs in place are these awesome bags
I going to find me a good clan and join it. To be honest .8 had a lot more teamwork, and it was more fun I guess I have to wait until the VBF2 1.5 patch release, to relieve some noobs off us.

So true! We were defending the flag from the compound, and every time they heard a rifle shot, they ditched position and ran to it. Every time I tried to get them to hold anything without action, they get really irritated, and start to break. To be honest you see that more .85, people are just less willing to defend and wait for the enemy. It's always MOVE TO THE NEXT FLAG! Attack attack! In PR and in real life that simply doesn't work. Then they get shot because they ditched squad and went of on their own, and then they yell "OMG MEDIC!!!!" HAHA I always rub that their faces.

Being new has nothing to do with being unable to follow simple instructions, or at least make an attempt to. Even if you make the effort to explain stuff to some people they either do nothing, do it in their own time, do something different or argue the toss with you.

You just need to identify the hopeless players, rather than new ones that don't know what's going on etc.

Yes, but does the new person have to curse out the SL? To be honest that reason is overused to justify VBF2 behavior. When I was new I listened to the SL, and did what he asked. I didn't go off into a different world, I played the game the way it was must to be played. The noobs know what they have to do, but they refuse to do it. There is nothing you can do for them. I'm ok with a newbie, who has an 0-10 score, as long as he listens and follows orders. Thats all I'm asking CAS, I'm not looking for uber pro players, just anyone that will listen.

From 10 to 1
10- The ultimate all squads want noob (only 0.0000000001% of the noobs have this rating.
9- A really really good noob
8- NEarly the same as 9
7-Still good, but there is somethign lacking here
6- Now this guy is the one showing skills, but only when he has the sniporz kit, but he can leave it if he must.
5- The noob vet level, this is a guy who has played PR for years and still acting like a noob, but thinks he is 1337
4-Irritating little bugger he is like one comment from getting kicked.
3- As fast as he opens the mouth he isnt worth it, mostly you ignore him and waits for him to pick the sniper kit so you can kick him from the squad.
2- If he even opens the mouth he is kicked.
1- The tard also known as those in need of a kintergarden uncle, and have taken to much drugs called vbf2.

Well I've had people get mad at me while I was SL, but that was largely due to the map we were on where the OPFOR had tanks and we had 5.56. Some people just have short fuses, and as SL I expect to encounter them. What I see happening and I don't like is this narrowing of the community into "teamworkers and noobz". That can only be bad.

Ok this is probably where we differ. A guy having a 0-10 score probably is having some aiming difficulties, or the more likely issue is that 99% of squad leaders consider wave rushing a legitimate tactic. My advice is to focus simply on killing the enemy which most people understand, as opposed to securing ultimately meaningless objectives. Then players with positive K-D ratios I usually leave alone, save for giving general responsibilities such as "watch center of town", and then keep players with a negative KD in close proximity to you with very specific orders such as "Face this marker and wait for hostiles".

And the thing is, skilled players appreciate not being treated like imbeciles, and what zimmer would call "level 1 noobs", will like the close direction and ultimately the apparent success that should result. I say should because if what you're telling them gets em killed, well, stop ordering them .

I mean think of how you would react if some guy who forgot his officer kit twice this game with a 2 - 16 KD starts threatening to kick you because you have a marksman kit and are 35 - 1 or something. Maybe he knows something you don't? Wait for the first contact, see who performs the best. Micromanage the "noob" players, let the skilled ones do the heavy lifting. Everyone will have a better time because you won't have to argue with good players, you won't overburden and ultimately be disappointed by poor players, and you will not have to micromanage 5 people and yourself.

You see main issue with this idea of unquestioning obedience to the squad leader is that the only qualifications that are required is the ability to move a mouse over a button and click it.

So kicking people from a squad without a fair chance, valuing obedience over results, and tuning out players possibly know more than you is a good way to lose. See once the game is no longer about winning or losing it is no longer a game, but is more of an online social network, which isn't inherently fun when everyone is a stranger.

From what I can tell, you seem to be leading unskilled players, so then just stick to basic orders. Give them targets to shoot at with attack markers while you watch their backs, and don't stop talking.
