Parachute for Sniper

If you give the US sniper a parachute and not the other teams,
then people will begin to complain.

Besides, it wouldn't hurt to have a nice VSS model for the MEC/PLA.

I say all parachutes should be removed. In my entire time of playing PR (since it was released) I can count on my fingers and toes the amount of times I have seen them used, and on one hand the amount of times I have seen them used correctley.

Until we have some way to spawn several hundred feet in the air, perhaps a static C-130 that kind of just hangs in the sky and acts as a spawn point, (Americas Army anyone?)they should just be removed for the time being as it is completely unrealistic to BASE jump off of a 5 story building or Parachute out of a BlackHawk 100 feet above the ground.

Little bird HALO jumps FTW. Yeah it would be sweet to limit the amount of parachutes for any class that use them down to one. Although probably not possible on the BF2 weapon/kit system.

Wow, HALO jumps from a helicopter? I didn't think that was possible. Don't people jump out of a C-130 plane at a HIGH altitude? I mean, HALO is, after all, a HIGH altitude LOW opening jump. So technically, it would be a LALO.

Ye HALO is >8000m whereas LALO is >150m.

Note however, that parachutes are only effective at heights > 75 metres so I think they need to be looked at again...

editing the amount of chutes would be nice...
thats not hard to do too... just change:

Objects_server.zip\Weapons\Handheld\ParachuteLauncher\ParachuteLauncher.tweak

ObjectTemplate.ammo.nrOfMags -1
ObjectTemplate.ammo.magSize -1

to:

ObjectTemplate.ammo.nrOfMags 1
ObjectTemplate.ammo.magSize 1

snipers with chutes?? yea right... while wearing that camouflage. ;)

Well if the sniper and special forces of both armies were allowed to use a parachute exactly once both could be stealthily inserted into the bush or rooftops without requiring a helicopter touch-down. Hopping a Blackhawk and then dropping into Operation Clean Sweep's forests to crawl around for half an hour was already my favorite thing to do as a sniper. I thought it was a touch odd to take away from the sniper class at all.

All this talk of realism yet the mod lacks quite alot at the moment, Personally i dont think snipers should get chutes, its not really in their role is it? snipers are more the sneaky crawlie sort who take their time, i have a hard time picturing rushing snipers diving out of helios on to roof tops and whatnot...

I think its a waste of development time that is the biggest factor here, why make a potential mistake when you can leave it as it is?

parachutes would be okay for all classes but they should only get one parachute.

How would that work? i just think its to out of character for snipers to have chutes, its like medics driving tanks and supports in jets

I am just saying give all classes parachutes but only one so they can atleast jump out of a chopper. If you guve them one then they can only use them once and can't spam with it.

I mean, alot of people say "Differences depending on the map type" -- So ultimately alot of people thought of it, including the PR dev team.
