I've given this a try, but I still get the prompt to insert the BF2 disc. This is happening with two distinct mini-disc images.

Could it be because I am using MagicISO rather than DAEMON? They essentially do the same thing, right?

Should I be using SD4Hider, as some people on the CopyWorld site suggested? Those posts are from 2005 and 2006, so I'm not sure how relevant that bit is today.

For example, this was written:
Use an anti-blacklisting tool, like SD4 Hider, to avoid SafeDisc v4 blacklisting of DAEMON Tools or Alcohol 120%.
Any advice?

Use daemon. Not sure why magiciso doesn't work for you, but daemon should - it worked fine for me.

Well, this worked for me: Move Battlefield2 folder in My Documents to desktop AND Disable EADM.

I'm afraid to attempt this fix. I know nothing other than my beloved game has failed me. I have the original BF2 game disc, which I stopped using because the discs stopped working to install the game. (downloaded software is better anyways, it's always there, if you remember your password). Can I expect a proper fix from either EA or Pb in the near future? I'm able to play some training maps....not all for hours at a time, just nothing else.

WORKSFORME THANKS!

(I used DaemonTools to mount the MiniDisc Image #3, replaced the BF2.exe and it stopped CTD in-game. Still getting PB-kicked every so often on map changes (and when this happens, sometimes CTD or losing the unlocks, but my workaround for that is to logout of the BF2 player profile and log back in, seems to have worked around that problem)).

You need to use DaemonTools because it's the only thing that will emulate the SafeDisc thing.
Also, on my XP, the drive letter doesn't show up (since I think *only* has the SafeDisc track on it, not a real filesystem).

Hi there.....

I'm still being asked to load the game CD.
Do the .rar files have to be compressed or unzipped to a Vista compatible image (jpg, gif,) before mounting?
I've mounted three as .rar yet no success.

Thanks.

Image doesn't mean .bmp or .jpg or .png in this case... it means something completely different. Just try mounting the files in daemon tools. If it comes in a .zip or .rar format, unzip it first, the mount. If not in .rar or .zip, then just mount it.

There is earlier post with ready .exe and script for both dvd and digital downloaded versions:

The rar file is just like a zip file, so yes, absolutely - you need to extract the rar file into a folder and then mount the mds/mdf file you find in there.

Honestly, I prefer my method.... no screwing around with renaming stuff every time you load the game.

But thanks for pointing that out :)

Did everything you suggested and am still getting a prompt to insert CD, even when using SD4 Hide...

That's with the "Image No. 2" from GCW to which you posted the link.

Dunno why that is.

Any ideas anyone?

Help would be much appreciated as this CTD issue is annoying the hell out of me!

Okay, now I've used a different image (DVD [ALL] #3) and I've got the game loading, but as soon as I try to join a server I still CTD...

Granted, I use XP Prof SP2 and not Vista, but I figured this fix might work on XP as well...

HELP please!

Has this error been solved already by EA?

Dude you are a genius! I spent 3 long days trying to figure this out, I took apart my laptop, tried everything under the sun, too long to list. I read every forum on the web till I finally found this. I was about to throw my laptop out the window. This worked! The morons at EA tech support don't even know of this bug that is driving so many of us crazy. Thanks a million, Shame on EA for this nightmare they created. I knew I should of bought the CD. :-D

Well let me say in my first post.

Thanks so much to the PR Developers and associated folks. This is such a great game and I say game not mod because it has truly taken on a life and identity of its own. I really enjoy your work, thanks again.

To the OP of this thread, I repeat what others have said. Thanks for taking the time to post this and even though I have not even tried it yet I know this is the fix for my CTD's and I will elaborate.

I have been playing for about 6 weeks or so now, I have a rock stable, self built, pretty high end PC. It runs most everything at flat out settings and has no issues.

3 Days or so ago (Sunday for me in Oztralia) I started getting CTD's with no error message at all and no system issues once back at the desktop. It would happen absolutly like clockwork about 15mins to 1 hour into the game. Before that I ran the game for periods of 12 hours at a time (yes I told you I like it) and I didnt have any memory, or CTD between map issues at all. Settings all on max even shadows.

I came to these forums yesterday and read most of this but didnt try anything because I really do not accept that EADM/PB whichever it is can just break stuff and be let off the hook.

I actually own both the DL and DVD versions of BF2 so I could also fix it without all the mounting behaviour.

But first I am going to spam emails at PB and EA support for a bit to let em know Im not happy.

Thanks again for your work guys.... and my little mantra for dealing with these things that worked again as it always does.

"If you havnt changed anything, chances are the problem is not your end"

So dont go knee jerk reinstalling etc etc when you read these forums, be patient, others will be having the issue and will help you work it out.

Cheers guys 8)
