Binocs on/in Deployable HMG

Post by Proff3ssorXman »

Ok, been a while since I last posted here but I did a search and also looked through the AAS thread.

Anyway, the main suggestion is pressing 'B' or 'C' or whatever to look through a pair of binoculars whilst manning the deployable HMGS.

I know you might say, exit the HMG and then look through you bino's but that isn't really a justifiable solution, it exposes you and lets the enemy know that you are in there.

Let us know what you think of it, there was another suggestion I was trying to remember but I can't think of it at the moment.

the general idea is not bad, but pressing C to go into it would not be the best way IMO to do it.

best way would most likely to have it as a separate, dummy weapon that just had magnification :)

might have a go at the idea myself in fact ;)

make the Binocular mode a "safe" mode.... so u cant fire when magnified..

Yes as well as no reticle like on the standard binos otherwise people will be using it to snipe etc.

Sounds like a good idea. I don't think you should be able to shoot while in this binoc mode though or else FOBs may become too powerful. A little zoom for the actual MG wouldn't hurt though.

Would it also be possible to add this feature on the vehicles machine guns? Or would it go too unrealistic?

Yes.
There is a similar system on the Chechen Field guns, by pressing F.
That would be a place to start

as in the 50cal gunners at the top? what I was mainly thinking :p

And ye, would be pretty unrealistic to be able to look though binocs and shoot :p

ye, as on the ZIS-3 cannons, normal view is a dummy weapon, then you press "F" (or 2) to go into radical mode where you can shoot, difference would be with this is that weapon 1 would be the MG instead of the dummy weapon, then weapon 2 would be the binoculars (the dummy weapon) and would have zoom :)

No, that's not what I meant, I was thinking of the 50-cals gunner to be able to draw out his binocular separately and look through them. Not do these at the same, that would be ridiculous.

I think Binos on Vehicle mounted HMG would be nice too. Long as we're sticking to binos being a dummy weapon. Extra set of Eyes on a Tank or the ability to see if that thing a couple hundred meters in front of your Humvee is a bush or a dude with a LAT would be cool

Wow now I'm confused. Are you referring to the topics first post, because I thought he was talking about the deployable hmgs around firebases? :D

Please do correct me, I'm litterally confused.

Imho these things should be feared and made so usable that someone would actually stand in these.
Give them the same zoom that hummers and technicals have.

hehe, the first post was about deployable hmgs but it is still code wise classed as a vehicle, and I also said that I was thinking of doing them for the HMGs on vehicles such as tanks etc too ;)

I have wanted something like this for ages, to be honest I think I talked about this with you on TS rhinoob.

It would be great to have this on tanks and cars too, but as someone already said you should not be able to shoot when using the binocs.
