Battlefield 2 - 1.5 Patch & PR V0.85 - Read Me

As some of you are aware EA will be releasing a "patch" (1.5) for BF2 shortly.

This "may" or "may not" affect PR v0.85.

With the open beta happening soon for the new 1.5 update for BF2, how will this update affect the current .85 release of PR?

We are aware of this patch, and are seeking advice from EA, however for the time being here is our advice to the PR Community:

We reccomend if you want to continue to play PR, that you do not INSTALL this patch, by all means download it and have it ready (bear in mind its only a BETA anyway). An install of this Patch may result in PR becoming unworkable

Once the BETA is released the DEV's will then take a look at it, and see how it affects PR, and then look at a Hotfix (if required) for PR.

You can if you really want to back up your version, but we would not reccomend this unless it is essential you need the BF2 1.5 Beta Patch.


Back Up Process

I recommend you don't do this as its always had problems in the past.


However to do it follow this guide:

Copy your Battlefield 2 install to another location
Install the update
This will update your version of Battlefield 2 where it originally installed.

To go back to 1.41

Rename your new (1.50) install folder to something else i.e. Battlefield 2 1.50
Rename the copied install (1.41) to what it originally was i.e. Battlefield 2
Click START>RUN
Type: regedit
Go to (in Vista its different): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2
There you will see a key called Version. It should say 1.50
Change this to 1.40 and close regedit
Run Battlefield 2 as normal

We have. 1.41 was released 16-11-2006.

The bf2 producer has hinted several times that this wont be the last patch. Apparently they've concentrated on stopping hacks in this patch. Also there's a few features that they plan to include in the final 1.5 patch release, that wont be in the beta - eg widescreen support, disabling mouse acceleration etc

But since so much isn't gameplay related (in what I've read) I hope it won't be too hard to hotfix PR.

The extra Vista support their promised might make things a little interesting for a while. If I were everyone...I'd make sure I have my BF2 disk handy in case of a reinstal.

I dont mean the beta as the last patch, I thinkt he final release of 1.50 (when they fix all the probs will be the last MAJOR patch. Problems with the 1.50 patch may make EA relaease anotehr patch, but afterwards I think they wont realease another one.

add - I think you misunderstand - it looks like they are planning to release further patches after 1.5 - weather or not it happens is another thing, but I have a feeling that they will.

no, 1.41 = 0.856,

so 1.50 is just 0.09 upgrade so with same analogy should be 0.946 for PR. anyhow we are closer to magic number of 1.00

I'd make sure I have my BF2 disk handy in case of a reinstal.

Or your disc image! Who uses the disc anymore? I use Alcohol 120% to backup all my game discs and then they are put back in their case and tossed into the game drawer. I can re-sell them if I feel like as they dont have any scratches.
