Re: Marksman have GTLD's
i would love to agree but then every squad with a marksman will have at least 2, given they have a officer to...i still think it makes more sense because i just pretty much use the scope anyway cuz of the 6-8 second wait to shoot thing
Ultimately Yes i want to see this happen

Re: Marksman have GTLD's
No.
Designated Marksman (DM) is not a "spotters kit" as you say, it is to provide long range support to an infantry squad. A DM should not be part of a sniper squad as the 2 are meant to fill different roles on the battlefield.
Sniper is completely different and rarely provides direct support to infantry units. The sniper is in place to act as a forward recon unit and spot enemy targets, thereby fulfilling the role that you describe. If the sniper wants a spotter who can paint targets then why not make a team including an SL who also possesses a GLTD?
Lazing targets is also not uncommon due to the fact that every SL has the ability to do it.

Re: Marksman have GTLD's
I hate when sniper squads take the markman kits. The marksman rifles are not for the snipers. They are for a "real" squad, doing important things for the team. Additionally, you need 3 people in your squad to get a marksman kit so why not have a officer kits with you. problem solved.

I think possibly rifleman specialist should have it aswell if anything.

No.
Like jigsaw said, they are meant to be in a squad. And every squad should have a SL and therewith a GTLD.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! *Slams fist into table*
If you make a 2 man sniper squad DON'T EVER use the marksman kit as a spotter, the spotter should have CQB weapon so that he can protect the sniper from enemy's that comes a bit to close not sit next to him trying to get some extra kills... If you want to be a spotter use the specialist kit if someone should get the GTLD its him.

Re: Marksman have GTLD's
the marksman is a........................marksman. A infantryman with increased accuracy. not necessarily a spotter. Rifleman specialist is abetter choice of spotter, or officer. The reason why? Well the marksman is ment to be a "spotter". With the GTLD's a marksman is more relevent in a sniper sqd, and becomes not just a sniper kit when there are no more sniper kits. A sniper sqd would therefore need a marksman in their sqd to work effectivly, plus the marksman can keep the GTLD'S on while the snipers can keep out their weapons.
tbh a marksman in a sniper squad is not really the best way to go, since your CQB defence is non existant.

Re: Marksman have GTLD's
Marksmen are to provide long range fire in a squad based setting not to be a spotter, that is the main role of the kit in the military, Snipers are for spotting.

Re: Marksman have GTLD's
Yes, you heard it here first folks.
Snipers and Marksmen are two different units within a military force and should not be confused to fulfil the same role.
Marksman- In short, a rifleman who brings increased accuracy and range to your average rifle squad.
Sniper- A specialist soldier who's primary role is intelligence gathering and observation. Snipers are also noted for their long range capabilities and concealment, allowing them to neutralise high priority targets with surgical fire.
A GLTD for the Marksman would be unrealistic and not have enough of a significant impact on gameplay to bother implementing it as such.

Really it's left to the mission IRL, a spotter will have a faster firing weapon usually while the sniper would have a bolt action rifle(most commonly) and both would be sniper qualified but one would do the shooting and the other would do the spotting, but if the situation dictates, the spotter could have a long range semi automatic weapon, can be seen in Best Sniper show, but I think that was more the rules rather then Mission criteria

We are talking about PR, the better reality
In PR snipers are better utilised as one or 2 man units with the sniper and a spotter (specialist or officer) to provide reconnaisance and HVT elimination.

This is Project Reality, not Project Letshazfunsnipingz
In the Marines, and almost any other armed forces, the best shooter in the unit gets handed a DM rifle, ammo, maybe a bit different kit, NOT a laser projecting set of super binoculars

Re: Marksman have GTLD's
Thats because in real life aircraft do not need these super binoculars to effectively target. They do it themselves.
