I'm not so sure Eddie, FH2 has the blur effect, and surely thats compatible with using the same mechanic as the ironsight models?

add zoom to the view, then use the blur effect to make the outside of teh scope hard to make stuff out (as your eye is focused on the scope)

Would look far nicer.

Maybe I'm stupid but the reticule for the binocs. Wouldn't be inside the lens? So shouldn't it not be all scratched up and what not?

I could not agree more with this, that would be the perfect way to do the scopes, i dont know why they havent been done like this yet.

I reckon a good way would be to make the acog scopes 3D like the aimpoint but instead of having no zoom the scope takes up the whole screen rather than just a little bit of the centre like the aimpoint.

Its certainly better than what we currently have.

Thing is, if I recall, you can only apply zoom/magnification to the whole screen, or to none. Because the Aimpoint (et al.) have no magnification, it all works out. However, the ACOG (et al.) with 4x magnification (or whatever) would seriously screw up the view of everything, including, if I understand it, the model which provides the 3D sights, so it wouldn't look too flash. Or something like that.

As far as the blurring goes, again, if I recall correctly, it wasn't going to be implemented because the shader conflicted with vehicle views (or something like that?) and so it wouldn't work out.

I'm sure a DEV can correct me if I've remembered incorrectly, or better yet, the search function is there waiting for you... But yes, that's why it hasn't been implemented yet, because it wouldn't work (not well, anyway), not for this mod.

Something similar could probably be done via hud texture.

He meant in relation to still being able to use the rest of the sight to make out enemies, something you couldn't do very well without the blur.

Do soldiers really use their sights with both eyes open anyway? Surely that'd really hurt your eyes.

In that case you could have the sight take up all of the screen like the binoculars do with the rim further out to the edges.

Keep the black space instead of blur ( just smaller.) like the one in the pic from far cry 2.
It would just make it less noticable and with a rim as in the rim of the scope instead of going straight to black it would look really good

The sights we use do get a little scratchy, and the details you get from your eye viewing the scene (Blur, colour edging, crazy things from looking down the scope wrong) would be cool but require a lot of development time.

Basicly what you guys are saying is "Add a little fade round the edge of the scope", and its true and I agree, its there.

We do use certain sights (Reflex and Red Dot) with both eyes open because thats how they are designed to be used. Other sights such as SUSAT and ACOG are for ranges of 200m+, so you're only using them when the immediate area is clear, otherwise you'd be doing that.

Private forum. You have to take my word on it. But it's not that difficult to test out, go get a scope or pair of binoculars, rub dirt on them and look through them. It really doesn't make a visible difference.

I used to look through binoculars with both eyes open when I was a kid, wasn't much of a problem, it was like having zoom on your eyes. ^^
You could see trees and people like you would normally, but then on your right side was a zoomed in view, pretty cool.
