Also, for the future, "when" we gonna start to skin your vehicles, there is the matter of the poly number, the inside and the destroy version... Just wondering what we have to do with all of that. The poly count is good so I don't think we have to worry on that. For the inside, we don't need one for the tank or the VR, but for the LAV definitively and perhaps for the IFV (but i don't think so). And destroy vehicle, of that I don't know ??!!
Mhh...just a second

Type 90: Around 7,500
Type 89: Around 9,300 (easily optimisable to 8000 if necessary)
Type 87: Around 8, 700 (could be optimised to about 7,500)

The LAV will have a poly count of about 7,500, excluding the interior. I was told it's okay to go over budget by 2,000 poly's as computers are better now than when the official guidelines were made. The guideline also says that you can use up to another 2,000 poly's on an interior, so the poly count is fine afaik. In any case, I'm going to make a LOD without all the bolts and screws kick in when you're just a few metres away from the LAV, to minimalise the performance hit :D


As for interiors for the Type 90, 89 and 87, that's the coders job (I think, I know it's not my job :) ). I could model an interior for the Type 89, but I've never seen an APC interior that looks good in BF2, and I don't know if I could make a decent one. I could try, but it might be a little ugly :(

The destructible versions would take a few minutes to model, it's simply a matter of deleting things really :)

I still have to model the suspension on the Type 87, as I don't really know how it's suspension "works", and it's difficult to model something you don't understand. When I've finished working on the LAV's suspension I'll have a look at it again ;) Suspension shouldn't take too long to model, so it's nothing major.

I havn't modelled any LOD's yet, but again I think they're just a matter of deleting stuff. You can have as many LOD's as you want, so if I make a LOD without all the screws and stuff for every vehicle I can get things to run a little faster, with no loss of appearence..

edit: oh, and as for the LAV's interior, it's gonna be a ***** to make but I'll do my best :)

done, apart from half the suspension, and an interior. Does it look okay?

I didn't model the smoke grenades, as they are only found on some varients and the LAV would be the JSDF's equivalent of america's Humvee or China's ugly *** truck thing, and it might be a bit unfair giving it smoke grenades as it looks like it's has much better armour anyway :razz:

Again, like I said, only the diagonal headlight boxes problem, the back door and the top opening and top doors are really important.
Could you please make screens in the same angles like some real pictures to see if it's matching correctly?

That does look really good and those small details add more of a Eye apeal and when you go In game and people say wow I like that Vehicle you can proudly say I made that. Good job and keep it up.

I've already fixed one or two of the details, and the angle on the headlights. I'll work on the rest tonight. As fpr the white bit on the front of the headlights, you do mean that I have to just shrink it a little right? Anyay, I'll ppost screens tonight :)

A group is working on the PLAN (China) and there's a proposal project about doing the North Korean military.

But the more available options are picking the russians and the current PLA. Another combat option that I think was not ruled out is to make it JSDF versus Iraqi insurgency since a few years ago the JGSDF was present there.

sorry about the pic being a little blurry, paint automatically saves stuff as a crappy .JPEG :(
I fixed the white bit on the headlight, the gunners guard, the ring at the top, added more detail to the doors, tweaked the backdoor, and removed the plates. I added that handle thing too. I think the headlights are fine, the angles match my reference material :D

edit: a few minutes of tweaking and I've made some of the smaller statics you might need, you can use them if you want. Sorry for the high res, there is a good few statics.

no problem, the JSDF is a pretty interesting faction to work on. they took me about thirty seconds each to model :) Sorry for modelling the things you were, your's are prob better tbh, I remember your temple static being beautiful.

Sure, I'll take it off, i'm embarrased to admit I had to google the word "losange" :lol:

I'll be able to skin the triangle thingy, and the large square sign as they will auto-unwrap very well. You shouldn't have much to much of a problem getting someone to unwrap/skin the rest, it's a quick job.

I've finished the sign, what's it actually attached to? A building or a pole?

Just done the other sign too, it's a little unsymetrical IRL, and for some reason I hate unsymetrical things (weird eh), so I made to versions, the real one and symetrical version :)

I'll make the electric poles tomorrow, do you have any closeups on the bits which hold up the cable?

That white lighthouse is cool, and small, I'll try that now :)

Glad you like the sig, you can probably tell I forgot to update it with the newest LAV version :lol:

didn't TP already have a lighthouse model we could use?

Since they lended their stuff to the FFFaction in PR, i'm guessing it can't hurt the JSDF either...?
