Im Starting to see less VOIP, is anyone else ?

Post by Stryker Machine »

Ive been back fro the last month now. ( Had Personnal problems for a few months ) and ive been on a few favourite servers: ici, TG, Hoggs, Chicago insurgency, and i have noticed that less people are using VOIP.

TG - TacticalGamer is the only server that really uses voip, in my opinion, i might be wrong, but in other servers there seems to be less. This maybe due to the sudden increase of new players as their has been more advertisments on websites, forums, and the actual loading screen of Vanilla itself. And as we all know, new PR players are totally stranded for the first day or two pf playing, and can be very nervous, as they are not used to using VOIP.

So, im suggesting we set more server rules on more servers like: Use VOIP, Don't be scared to use VOIP etc . . .

I was just wondering if anyone agrees with me, and if so how are we going to tackle the problem with people not using VOIP ?

Welcome back....

Allot of servers I've seen are running mumble as well. Maybe they are turning off in-game VOIP for that. Check around the site and get yourself hooked up.

-Lots of VOIP in TnT, =DaM= and iGi, the bad apples of servers seem to be the same still. It might be related to Mumble though, as more communication goes through that instead. I only play on a small amount of servers though so I don't have a good overview. Pelitutka, UKWF, and most Eastern European servers seem to have low teamwork and VOIP use(Russian Reality is good though). Virginia/Chicago servers are good most of the time.

I play Chicago Ins a fair bit (favourite server ATM), and I never have trouble finding VOIPers really, and a fair few mumblers now and then. The main problem I find is, conversely, VOIPers who speak a different language to me. I guess that's the downside of being on popular servers - they attract a global player base.

Are you serious? IMO it's the opposite at least in some cases. UKWF = most teamwork/voip based squads per team that I have quite frankly ever seen in any server, and plenty of admins. Russian reality, in my opinion = zero teamwork, usually lots of smacktards and NO ADMINS (plus voip squads are usually RUS only ;) . I haven't, however, seen any decrease in voip use recently.

Sorry for the slight OT there :P

That's why I tend to avoid EU servers, squads of foreign languages I can't read, mostly locked, that are empty when I prefer to play due to nocturnal lifestyle and a preference for playing when there is the least network congestion...

-Well, I might be wrong about UKWF but I've actually never had a game where VOIP was used, and SLing was like herding cats. Retarded cats. On speed. But I hang around on TnT and iGi mostly so I only have like 6 games on UKWF in the last weeks. Russian Reality is ok for me, but I SL all the time so if they don't speak English they're not in my squad. German servers are just pure hell right now.

I play on mostly UKWF, IGI, TG and SG and I'm actually seeing more VOIP. When I started I saw like 1 VOIP squad per team when I played, now everyone is using it.
VOIP Inf, Eng VOIP, Tank VOIP, Mumble APC etc. is a normal setup for one team.
