Will people using the PR edition be able to connect to other servers? I'm fairly sure TG is going to set up its own mumble server sooner or later.[R-DEV]Jaymz wrote:We're working on having it so that only people using the PR edition can connect to the server.
If you stick close together with the vehicles sure. But as soon as you spread out to flank or cover different angles your screwed. Or when one tank is down and the other crew has just picked up a tank from main and you are pinned or on your way. And you will still hurt the transport chopper/transport apc squads. Usually they request for a marker for the destination and tell each other stuff about AA and AT positions.Jonny wrote:Not in the least, when you have a radio for every driver. Infact, that would be a better solution as you can have multiple squads working together.

Wait, does that mean there'll be auto-channel switching depending on the server you join?'[R-DEV wrote:Jaymz;997964'][R-GOD]TwistedHelix is working on "Mumble (PR Edition)" to solve a lot of comm problems we see today. If things work out as planned,
1. you'll have an option to install it with future updates (option given at the end of the PR installation/patch)
2. All you'll have to do is run the audio wizard and set your key bindings. (distance settings, link-to-game, etc will all be done for you and hardcoded to prevent cheating).
The template will be,
player to player direct talking - Mumble (3D positional)
SL to SL radio - Mumble (force center)
Inner-squad radio - BF2 VoIP

And which team you're on? And would it be possible to make it so that the push-to-talk key is inoperable when you're typing, so you can have it bound to a letter key?McLuv wrote:Wait, does that mean there'll be auto-channel switching depending on the server you join?
Normal murmur servers don't care what version you have. We'll also make the PR murmur server files available for anyone.Charity Case wrote:Will people using the PR edition be able to connect to other servers? I'm fairly sure TG is going to set up its own mumble server sooner or later.

QFT , like i said, not pratically at all.PFunk wrote:Hand signal emulated by moving your upper torso in certain prearranged ways? Imagine if someone doesn't get the point, you do it over and over and you take your eyes off that target and BAM you're dead, they're dead, everyone is dead cause they're making moves with their guns and NOT pointing them where they're meant to be.
Also, typed chat for hand signals. Not correct as well since hand signals are almost all done with ONE hand and usually thats the hand NOT on the trigger because if it comes down to it you can shoot with one hand but it also means you can bring your rifle back to proper stance faster since the weight of the rifle is resting in your trigger hand.
Seriously. The fact is that the average PR squad has about 1% of the effective communication overall that any real life one does means you need some kind of super system to recreate it and even then most squads lack real coordination.
Mumble is the best of the worst ideas. Its like Churchill said. [paraphrase]Democracy is the worst way to run a country, except for all the other ones[/paraphrase]
jonny i agree with you a LOT of ppl dont like and dont want use mumble what if that guys who dont like mumble join in server who all players there talking with mumble:more black hole squads (no mumble)Jonny wrote:Try READING before replying.
If the drivers have a radio each then the drivers can talk to each other no matter how far away they are.
Chances are, even if you do include all this mumble stuff, a LOT of people just wont use it at all. They will stick with BF2 VoIP.
@ "mumble limitations"
Can you be serious?
You are esentially claiming BF2 VoIP is more realistic than mumble?!?!?!?
WTF?!
People use VOIP so I don't see why they won't use mummble. If it is there people shall use it!'paratrooper[BG wrote:;999231']jonny i agree with you a LOT of ppl dont like and dont want use mumble what if that guys who dont like mumble join in server who all players there talking with mumble:more black hole squads (no mumble)
