Who in the world would add a "beep" each second that passes after the SLAM is activated? It's almost impossible to ambush with the SLAMS because they are so easily detected. You can't trap like a tree you know will be covered with enemies in a few seconds because they can hear the god damned explosive.
And it makes the Spec Ops guy too easily detected.
Maybe make it beep once when it's armed, but not beep every fricking second. I don't think they do that in real life either....
Well specs opps are not that realistic, sort of, in a way. O well, the demise of the special opperations man is beginning!!!!!!
jsut jking but i am sure such problems will be fixed, it is not exsaclty that complex or diffuclt to solve or change. I am sure PR .35 will make an adjucement to it.
I don't think the bleep should be removed but it certainly should be reduced, in an outdoor environment there's no way you should be able to hear that bleep more than 5m away.

Umm, it makes no sense AT ALL for an explosive device to beep every second. The objective is to make it hidable. Beeping every second makes it detectable too easily. IT should be very hard to discover explosives, and SLAMS are good except for the beeping. Maybe a bit weak but oh well..
I think there needs to be some kind of indication it's counting down to give people a chance, remember the SLAM's (timed C4) were not ment for Anti-Infantry or Anti-Vehicle, their main purpose is sabotage (Commander Assets, Bridges, etc).

Umm, their main prupose is to blow stuff up. You can use it for ambushes, bridges, whatever you need it the most. Or better, whatever your team needs the most.
And this mod is about Realism. Something that is lacking from the SLAMS...
Well, I don't really know what SLAMs are made for. It takes three to down a bridge, but it was suggested engineers do that. It takes 5 to take down an asset, so already you need a whole team of Spec Ops guys to down a team's assets, all neatly lining up ready to throw countless beeping SLAMs on the targets. To destroy a whole team's assets with SLAMs, you're going to need about 30 SLAM charges. Do real Spec Ops teams carry that much explosive in so many packages? I think they need their old strength back. Going from 5 high powered charges to 3 low ones is a steep jump.
and as for removing the bleeps, the bleeds are 1 of the main things that makes a guy relize its timed and dosent sit next to it for 15secs before it blows.

It still happens though, I saw someone plant some SLAM's then kept asking how you use the remote.
A few seconds after he asked I hear an explosion and a corpse flys into the air, followed by a quick 'WTF!!!' in the chat box lol
Honestly though I've never ntoiced the beeping thta much other than when I'mr ight next to it. I know my teammates certainly don't. Anyone know the actual radius for them?

That probably the last reason I'd give to make the SLAMS beep... It's such a stupid reason that I have internal brain bleeding from just reading it.
If people are stupid enough to play the mod without even reading some documentation, then they should blow up the first couple of times when using SLAMS. They'll learn it's timed, eventually. But you shouldn't make explosives easy to detect just because some idiot might blow him self up....

Thats the exact opposite. In movies they beep just to "sound cool". Realism mods shouldnt be based on action movies, because they are very unreallistic.

I have to disagree with that. The Spec Ops is supposed to be a specialist on explosives and what kind of a specialist doesnt know how his own bombs work?? New players will discover they are timed as i did (blowing myself up the first time i used it). How about an icon for the SLAM in the lower right corner of the screen wich has a big 15sec simbol on it?
I have to agree with Demio about removing the beeps.
