instant slay for enemies in main bases!

ok. make the invisible penalty dome around the main bases smaller. i'm tried of bomb cars and big reds driving into main bases. it ruins the gameplay so much when someone drives in and detonates 2 APCs or the cobra about to take off.

put the dome of death just inside the main gate and have instant slay for everyone who passes into the base. that way, they can still IED the outside of the main, but not ruin vehicles and crippling gameplay.

Or have a squad on defense....Try it one day. After about 10-20 minutes of base defense OPFOR stops trying to attack the bases. If a VBIED ( Vehicle borne IEDs) is able to enter the base someones not doing there job.

Nah, leave it the way it is. Bomb cars are ment to attack the main base that is what defending your main is for. And it is realistic that bomb cars would be able to drive into an undefended entrance.

Yep. fine as it is. Only problem I see is on one map - Karbala. Its next to impossible for the US to set up a base defense before the bomb cars roll through the entrance. I usually tell my squad to get as many vehicles as possible and scatter them/hide them behind the mosque etc. Easy fix would be to not have the bomb cars spawn until 30 seconds into the match or so.

Scenario : Insurgents on Operation Archer
Lets go near the main to set up a few IEDs and mines.
KK, lets just get close

did you just say JOB? this is a game. so what; you are saying is that someone should sit and stare at the entrance with a hat/lat... no, a support gun or a mounted machine-gun all round and not have any active gameplay at all?? do you do that every insurgency round? cause i've never seen anyone do it, have you?

ok, fallujah sometimes has a "base defence" squad, but there is no day of the week that they'd have the reflexes or positioning to shoot out a car fast car flying in towards an apc rearming of a vacant vehicle. they usually kill insurgents outside that are attempting (or already have) planted mines/ieds.
i've seen big reds get disabled when they are inside mains, but it's mainly cause the driver didn't know when to detonate.

how about tone down the realism if it ruins the gameplay? ever thought of that? there's a truckload of factors in real life that would go against a suicide car getting driven into a main base.

yeah, that's how it is now. if you could wrench IEDs and have the main base limit a bit inside the main gate, it's be a lot better. why can't you wrench IEDs anyway?

Well, I personally don't mind base defense. Sure it's boring as all hell, but if I don't do it no one will. If no one does we are going to get owned. Two people with C4 works wonders for keeping bomb cars out. I like to have a third with HAT just in case some techy tries to stir up trouble.

mm. playing the waiting game. will it come? is that a humvee or a car? have their vehicles even respawned yet?
how about free that chore up and let you run out and enjoy yourself <3

Not only have I seen it I've played it. I jumped on a server one day playing Korengal and the server was bitching about the main being raped. So I was like "you know what I'll show these guys was up" Created a main defense squad and took on the attackers. With in 10 mins all attacks stopped. Now of course Korengal has a smaller engagement area but the idea is if someone just does it you don't have these issues.

There is a small line between attack and defense but players always go for the attacking and never think about defense.

PLUS:
INS only....only job is to harass and make the BLUFOR lost its cohesion. Protecting spawns and caches naturally fall into this tactic as hunting becomes imposable.

o.o and i won't.. but...

I've always wondered why people don't actually defend the their main, instead of leaving it wide open because it is "uncappable"

Why do server admins sit there and babysit on a tactic that, last time i checked, was as legit as camping (Which, again, is a legit tactic, especially in pr, we call it waiting)

So, why would you care?

You know the bomb cars are going to come... so.. do somthing about it

=D One time we "Captured" big red.. we killed the guy before he could blow us up, and he was well into the Airport at Basrah...

well since you all obviously love to defend the main base and feel that it's a fulfilling job, i guess i won't have to... ever.
i've yet to see you guys ingame, which makes me believe you're a huge minority.

Just saying maybe fill the role once in a while and see if you can enjoy it. If people do it here and there every so often you will see results. As the old saying goes:

"If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem"

If your not willing to take the crappy role here and there your only helping the void in main's security. We cant all be attacking forces every time. This goes with defending a firebase as well.


BTW here is a example of a squad filling that role : US retaliates to the old insurgent "lets go spawn rape main base on Korengal

That's 32 Korengal, the main is cappable, hence it was attacked. The pics come from a server where attacking main bases isn't usually permitted (unless that are capable under *** order).

At the end of the day, a decision should be made as to whether a main should be attackable or not. If they are meant to be attacked then remove the dome of death and leave it to the players to look to their own defence.

Would need a reworking of certain bases though as their defence is inpracticable to say the least.

the worst part of pr is the waiting.
  • waiting to ambush coalition troops coming towards the only cache on the map.
  • capturing the outpost at al basrah and waiting for the brits to come take it back (while surrounded by armor).
  • waiting to respawn as a collaborator.
  • waiting in main for scares bomb cars to drive in... and they might never come/reach main!!!
i don't like it so i stay away from all that... except waiting around caches. i have to do that ;P

Thats the normal out of bounds/dome of death. Its there to stop spawn camping, so these are not going to be removed....as much as I might want them too :twisted:

Just saying a little thing like defending for a bit can stop what your talking about. So I fully disagree with the instant death. If your able to freely drive into a main base then you should be allowed to reap the rewards as your causing massive BLUFOR penalties. and making them lose assets.

My opinion only really applies to INS.

Although it would be funny to see the Apache fly over the mosque and both pilots instantly die.

hiberNative I posted something along theses lines and everyone just kinda told me to shut up and defend the main base or don't complain.

I feel the only allow this because if they take it away it would make the US/Brits better which hearts the Ins which leads to no one wanting to play ins mode.

I wanted a 6 sec death and any landmines / ieds in the red zone disappear as it is totally unrealistic in any way shape or form.

I don't think of it that way. I cant speak for the rest of the Dev's

INS/Taliban is to be played totally different then force on force which allot still don't understand. Which is why you might get some hostility when asking for thing like this to be implemented.

INS should never try to win, you should be trying to get BLUFOR not to win....see the difference? :razz:
