Killing is killing, it makes no difference how you do it, only that you do.
Well, any type of killing, it still has a phsycological effect on you

If somebody is there and you sverve to hit him, thats fine with me, but if you drive circles to roadkill people or only grab a car to roadkill, its a big no no.

This is taking it overboard, IMO. There are some things that you just cannot control on a game. The game will never be able to reach completely realistic behavior. Roadkilling isn't even that big of a problem in most servers, and even if it does occur, it's not a huge deal. Plus, as a veteran BF player (since 2002), "roadkilling" has always been an accepted part of the series and its mods. I say carry on.

My $.02

I love Roadkills, they are one of the high points in my game.

After a long convoy drive and a badly needed resupply, while hauling *** through enemy territory, there is nothing more satisfying than than getting three consecutive roadkills over three noobs who think its nice to bunch up. Nas.

I love Roadkills, and all of you TG nanny-goats, start playing on kokan and running over some infantry.

This gives me an idea, Roadkill Night, with some server side mods to give all the infantry engineer kits.

Nas.

I remember the first time I died in VBF2. There was this guy on a dirt road standing beside a dune buggy, so we started shooting eachother but we couldn't hit for s***, then he jumped in the buggy and ran me over. Blasted! I was so mad lol

In PR, if I'm walking down a street I really don't expect a fast vehicle like a technical to come out of nowhere and run me down, yeah it gets annoying, but when you do it to them it's a whole other story :)

I would never use a vehicle with the intent over running people over.
With that said: I don't brake to avoid driving over an nme jumping out in the alley with the rpg pointed at me.

You like ramming? There are other games for you, like GTA.

Reality aspect: No doubt people have been run over in wars. However, I'm pretty sure US/UK armed forces does not deploy ramming logis. Simply not a good tactic. Not even terrorist go on ramming rampages, that I've heard of.

Someone wrote that killing is killing no matter. A world of psychologists would disagree. I won't elaborate.

Tanks running over people is nothing new.

Here is how I see it. There was a report from Afganistan where a security force soldier recounted killing four taliban soldiers by running them over with his car. They asked him how he knew it was four, he said they were lying on the ground and he felt the bumps.

So to me... if you go prone and are infront of me and trying to kill me... you are fair game. Then again, if I'm in a tank, and you are running around me and my gunner can't kill you.... I will kill you.
Also, on TG it is against the rules to go out of the way to run people down as well. Yet, of course hardly any pubbers read the rules or have the restraint. (By pubbers I mean the people you never see on servers).
On TG the rulling is to not be unrealistic with your roadkilling efforts.

Is it the general consensus that when your Opfor its fine to run people over? After reading this thread ive caught when I go for roadkills and its mostly INS/Taliban.

I was on kokan and with a full techy doing hit and runs I had as many kills as the gunner mine in roadkills. Mostly on VIPs like AR's, Medics, or LAT's.

Idk it just fits the Haji mood....specially when we're all screaming Pumbula into mumble/ts/ and generally being a fun haji.

The handling of the technical makes it a beast for roadkilling, to such a point where I think its ridiculous.

The technical is not meant to be a close range firing while moving platform... and it is definately not meant to run people over.

I draw the line of justified always to Tanks, IFVs and certain APCs. All of these vehicles would have no issue with crunching up some bones and flesh.

Cars and technicals would recieve some damage from most roadkilling, something that isn't simulated in BF2.

There's also a psychological effect from shooting someone 5 times in the chest, or disemboweling them with your bayonet. However, in a game where the object is to kill, you're going to get the exact opposite of real human behavior. Whereas a real soldier might be traumatized by combat, a game soldier goes out looking for firefights. A real soldier feels some remorse from killing; a game soldier feels unfulfilled if his body count is too small. Games can only be brought so close to reality.

Additional thought. On servers where ramming is not allowed; simply don't run people over. Show some respect for fellow players who have chosen to play on a non ramming server =)

only collaborators or if you're driving down a path and an enemy happens to be the in the road. these aren't rules i'd apply, just my road kill etiquette.

maybe you can't run civis over anymore, though.

it's not that hard most of the time, unless you're being stupid and going down a road that's a total funnel with no escape routes without a contingency plan.

i think it's ok, in most situations there's a way to dodge them. Whenever i spot a hostile vehicle coming down the road or hear one, i immediately give the orders to jump into a ditch or over a wall or some other form of obstacle. worst case scenario you're going down a road with high walls and no cover, try your best to drop an incendiary at your feet, that'll teach'em. lucky thing is they tend to get caught in the wheels.

of course i personally dont run people over unless it's a last ditch effort to get out of an area and he's in my way. honestly they wont damage my vehicle but the wall i'm going to ram them into will, and where i play every bit of health helps. (also the sound effect of crunching metal pisses me off)
