which explains why half of africa and the middle east use hinds.

they are sitting on some of the largest oil reserves why would they worry about the cost of weapons, oil and ammuntion?

haha, yeah, that got me ridling too ^___^
the MEC are used to desserts which are windy and sandy and not good for choppers
though that is true, it doesnt stop you from using them and not using them would put you at a severe disadvantage

after stalin, chruschtschow took a different stance concering china than he predeccesor - he more or less despised the cult mao build around him and mao of course, wasn´t a big fan of nikita instead. this peaked basically in the ussr and china being more enemys than allies and especially things like nixxon visiting china were much to the dislike of the russians.

to make things short: there was beef between russia and china and that´s why russia didnt sell china any hinds

that is at least my theory

Yeah, you might be right. I think China would rather use cows instead, I mean, not a single attack heli was ever developed by the PLA!

Well, the armed "Hip" variants are less preferred to the WZ-9/G variants they use. The WZ-10 will be their first indigenous developed attack helicopter, whenever it gets into production and service, so they recognize the need for a purpose-built attack helicopter. Like any other state with multiple branches of service, all of the services are competing for the budget to modernize and develop new equipment.

Add it in as a secondary concern, if someone had time and was willing, it would be Heavy flying characteristics, heavily armed and heavily armored with some passengers.
played early vers or OPK, the hind in that is REALLY cool, with a barrage of rockets (1 Lmb hold = 20 rockets flying in the air) and the opening doors/gear

[r-dec]eddy, question, would it be possible to get opk´s hind - because they are also in the blacksands studios?

It has passenger capacity and opening door and retractable landing gear, comparing from SF the door and window spacing is different

yep, enterily opk done - and i think the reskin wouldnt be too hard, it would probably be enough to change the colors to fit desert camo, but that´s all

http://www.blacksandstudio.com/ <-- next to pr ;)

actually, on second viewing (on a brighter monitor) the OPK model looks nice. take it! just give it a little reskin to be more MEC.

Yeah, it's pretty nice. Is it easy to take stuff from other mods in blacksands studios? Can you just use it, or do you have to negotiate and stuff?

I was about to make a post on this of my own but a quick search yielded this 14 page thread and with the release of .5 I thought I would add my two cents. I noticed a lot of people complaining about the PoE hind saying that it is too hard to fly, but obviously these people never took the time to learn its quirks. The hind with its stubby wings has more charecteristics of an airplane than a helicopter and must be treated as such. It is an absolute beast when in capable hands and although it has a wide turning radius, it almost always dominates the nimble EuroTiger making it a capable helicopter if designed correctly.

Another thing many people have been saying is that it should replace the Mi-28 or the flying cow, DON'T! The hind is a breed all to its own and is neither a transport or an attack helicopter. In PoE it had a large capacity of rockets (64 of them!) but they had a large spread making them useless against other helos. Instead it uses a fixed 30mm cannon which trashes the EuroTiger like no tommorow. The rockets shouldn't be very effective against armor and should be on automatic fire to clear a wide area for a landing zone. One thing that I was suprised that wasn't brought up is two KORD door gunners. A full squad should be kept in the back with two on the door guns and 2 more as pilot and copilot.

There was also a seaking gunship that I know a lot of people have been asking for and would make an interesting counter to the hind.

Wow, someone brought up my old thread.

Yes, I think the Mi-28 should not replace any heli, but be in addition to the current helis.
