I do wonder if TGs fantastic gameplay is something to do with the number of people joining the 3rd party voice coms
if I wasn't working hard on mapping, I'd jump on straight away.

i think that if you are on mumble you should be able to reuqest a player thta has been playing for a long time to be kicked aslong as they do not have mumble
basiclicly non mumble players can be kicked to make room for mumble players

Killonsight, that would be a very unfair request. A great many people contribue to the upkeep of the TG server, you get rights to a supporting membership if you contribute.
Other servers do provide the facility you request, such as Reality Teamwork. People get kicked all the time for supporting members adding mumblers to that would piss everyone off ("Can I have a space please?" every 3 seconds), be a headache for admins and also would be unfair to those that support the server financially or with admin time.

The reverse actually, the fantastic game play based on teamwork made 3rd party voice comms (Teamspeak used to be the primary one with squad leader and regular squad member channels) very useful. The same players just migrated from TS to mumble over time for the positional audio and reduced latency of the voice.
Rudd is right about the annoyance of people asking to make room, it is automated for a reason. Additionally, some people have technical issues with mumble that are excellent team players, and having mumble doesn't automatically instill team play ability.

That was a pretty bad round though

That was the first game I'd been there from the very start for a long time. Played 20-30 mins of Quai before that, then Karbala (a map that I don't like) started off very well. I got a few kills, no deaths, was getting back into the swing of PR, then get kicked for a supporting member. I wasn't on the server the longest and hand't just joined, so was miffed and didn't bother 'auto deploy' as I guessed there'd be a queue.
So, I muted myself and decided to wait...

There are quite a few supporting members who don't wear tags, and some people rejoin pretty quickly so while it may have seemed like you weren't on the longest you really were.
One thing to note is that in the early US evening there is a large number of supporting members that join at about the same time which cycles out a large portion of the server at once. After that point there is a lot less support kicks so if you are kicked and rejoin after that initial group you should be on for quite a while.

Being on mumble does not mean you are contributing to the team more than another person.

OK, Snooggums, even though I'd been on the server for less than an hour, you may be right. I don't mean to diss the server, it's obvious that I like the server or I wouldn't have posted or been there in the first place.
@ Google, who was that aimed at?

I would guess killonsight95, who suggested kicking based on who was in mumble.

do you think it would be possible to write to the US Gov't and ask for a Video Game server bailout? I mean its only fair, I get kicked all the time when I am an SL and thats not fair, i mean so what if its just me and one other person and i'm not an SM. If I am the SL and if I have a sniper kit, or a HAT kit I shouldn't be kicked, I mean come on, I am one of the most important players, kick someone else, a medic or a AR guy, I'm an SL I am important.

Welcome to the word of PR. I got kicked several times as a SL, once as I coordinated an attack on South Brdige on Mumble, other when my squad pushed in the objective (btw, one another random guy stepped onto a friendly mine right before that... so yea there are better nominees for kicks, but that just doenst happen

) its all about whos been in the longest.

What annoys me though is the lots of people on SL channel that are not SLs. Which is just annoying (considering I've seen lots of people asked to move out of the SL channel for not being SLs).
Just to notice, that picture has 12 people on the SL channel.
And I heard admins were constantly working on mumble (ex. moving people that are not in the right place).
(BTW I forgot about last post, therefore, sorry for double post)

Its useful to be in the sl channel when you are driving a stryker and your not the sl.

Are they using the channel and cluttering it up? If not it doesn't matter how many people are in the channel.
As transport I hop in the channel to know what is going on and to communicate with an SL who requested transport. As infantry I sometimes leave myself there but I just don't ever talk if I am not the SL.
I would guess that people who are asked to get out of the channel are cluttering it up with unnecessary comms.

Okay so, is using Mumble manditory for this server? I seem to remember a few months ago (maybe even last year) they suddenly made Mumble mandatory and since then I stopped playing on it, because I think it's utterly stupid and ridiculous to force me to download some 3rd party program so I can be inundated with the voice of morons, rednecks and prepubescent boys. But from the sounds of this thread Mumble is no longer mandatory? If so, great news (or I'm thinking of the wrong server), I might actually plague TG with my presence once again.
