Hush, how dare you point out any inconsistencies with my posting.

I seem to remember a few months ago (maybe even last year) they suddenly made Mumble mandatory and since then I stopped playing on it, because I think it's utterly stupid and ridiculous to force me to download some 3rd party program so I can be inundated with the voice of morons, rednecks and prepubescent boys. But from the sounds of this thread Mumble is no longer mandatory? If so, great news (or I'm thinking of the wrong server), I might actually plague TG with my presence once again.
Mumble, and Teamspeak before it, have
never been mandatory on Tactical Gamer.
Maybe you are thinking about Reality Teamwork which originally required mumble and still kick non-mumble users to make room for joining mumble users?

TG is the best server in the whole world. It's the only place where you can see a fully co-ordinated 32 player team assaulting an enemy position at the same time. Too bad it's impossible to fit in some times and it crashes a lot.

i LOVE this server, it is literately the only server i play. if server is empty, i dont play. but the SM kick is VERY annoying, in the last two days ive been kicked when squad leading full infantry squads. ive seen CAS huey pilots kicked when ive needed them, had my medic kicked.
I see the reason behind a automated kick system, but if it possible to code it so it doesn't kick the person who has been in server longest (most likely to be in a established squad) but be random but not able to kick certain kits like:
SL's
Medics
Pilots
crewman
etc

This has been discussed to death in the past.
Basically, if this was done, we'd see alot people whoring these positions just to stay on the server. Simply not the fairest solution.

I don't see a reason for an automated kick system beyond Tking.
As I recall as a server administrator myself, it really wasn't that difficult to fire up the client and boot somebody to make room.

TG's playerbase is alot bigger than the one of most servers out there, so there would have to be an admin constantly kicking people manually.

Isn't the autokick simply for making room for admins?

It's for Supporting Members, people who have donated to TG.

The autokick makes room for people who pay for the server through monthly or yearly subscription fees by removing those players who do not pay, taking the player from the group of non-supporting members who has been on the server the longest. Generally this happens to the players who have been on for quite a while when it starts to get to be prime time US, as that is when the SMs get home from work or school or whatever and decide to have some fun.
One of the easiest ways to "get around" the sm kick is to disconnect from the server between rounds and rejoin, pretty much guaranteeing you a spot on the server and also "resetting the clock" on your timer. The only drawback is that you have a 50/50 shot of rejoining the same team you were on the previous round.

Well gee hero, with that thought, there's no real room for complaining about this anymore. Problem solved.

rich...... just leave.
dispo, i understand the need for the auto kick. and people who have contributed to the server do deserve a spot over me. but is it not good for gameplay to seek a script that will alter it so it doesn't kick important roles on the field that are good for gameplay? like SL, crewman and pilot? this would leave a large population of the less "important" players to be kicked for SM and wont damage gameplay as much.
im pretty sure a script like this is possible as Afterdune made one like it for igi server back in the day.

People have suggested that befre but the usual response was then people will just always use vehicles or aircraft more than they do now just to avoid being kicked and also how does the kit decide how important the player is? I could be a useless pilot waiting at the airfield for my recently killed plane and avoiding the kick when riflemen and other "less important kits" are fighting it out and keeping their team alive. If the kick did avoid kicking all important kits then what about that important squad medic, auto rifle and all the other infantry kits? Infantry can be just as important or more important than assets on the field and it can be just as devestating to loose that member. To me its fairest just to let everyone have time on the server and then when their time comes kick them whatever the role, I experienced it for a year and then bought my membership and it was annoying but it wasn't in need of changing in my opinion.

Why? Because I have a viewpoint that runs counter to your own?
If it's as simple as just pressing escape, and then rejoining the server, then why is it such a big deal? Just refresh your time between each round. End of problem.

yes, people could be waiting at main with a pilot kit doing nothing. but the script can also kick a pilot mid flight. i just see it as kicking pilots mid flight and kicking gunners mid game and kicking SL's mid leading(lol?) bad for gameplay. and why have something thats bad for gameplay when you can remove it?
@rich: was your comment not massively sarcastic ? "well gee hero...."

It was not sarcastic. This discussion isn't heated enough for sarcasm. I'm sorry that you think that all I do is run around on the forums looking for fights.

I'd just like to point out this comment is very contradictory
